FOR SALE IS MY CB1000 CUSTOM THAT I PURCHASED NEW IN 1983 AND IT NOW HAS 3176 MILES ON IT, IT HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT SINCE THAT TIME, IT HAS BEEN STARTED EVERY FEW MONTHS OVER THE YEARS, A FEW YEARS AGO I HAD IT GONE OVER AND HAD THE FRONT FORK SEALS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE RUBBER CONNECTORS BETWEEN THE CARBS AND HEADS. IF YOU LIKE CB1000 CUSTOMS AND WISHED YOU HAD A CHANCE TO PURCHASE A NEW ONE BACK IN 1983 THIS ONE IS CLOSEST YOU WILL EVER GET TO NEW UNLESS THERE IS ONE STORED WITH NO MILES ON IT, THIS BIKE IS VERY CLOSE TO NEW CONDITION, IT STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL DUNLAP TIRES (NOT DRYROTTED), IT STARTS PERFECT (A LITTLE COLD BLOODED) RUNS GREAT, LOTS OF POWER. THIS BIKE HAS NEVER BEEN LAID DOWN, BUT PROBABLY ABOUT 20 YRS AGO I USED IT TO DELIVER SOME BUSINESS DOCUMENTS ON A VERY HOT DAY, I RETURNED TO IT AND FOUND IT ON ITS SIDE WHERE THE ASPHALT WAS SO HOT THAT THE SIDE STAND SUNK IN AND LET THE BIKE FALL OVER, IT RECEIVED A FEW SCRATCHES ON THE LEFT SIDE POLISHED ENGINE COVER AND PUT A FEW SCRATCHES ON THE EDGE OF THE MIRROR AND TURN SIGNAL BUT YOU REALLY CAN'T NOTICE THEM. THERE MIGHT BE A FEW HAIR LINE SCRATCHES ON THE BIKE BUT YOU HAVE TO LOOK FOR THEM, THE TACH WORKS VERY SLOW AND HAS BEEN THAT WAY FOR OVER 20YRS. I THINK I HAD BOUGHT A USED ONE SEVERAL YRS AGO BUT I DON'T KNOW WHERE IT IS. IF YOU LOOK HARD YOU MIGHT FIND A FEW HAIRLINE SCRATCHES ON IT BUT NOT MANY. IT RETAINS ALL ORIGINAL EVERYTHING, THE ONLY THING THAT WAS ADDED WAS A NICE LOOKING SISSY BAR THAT WAS ORDERED TO FIT THE BIKE WHEN I PURCHASED IT, THE SEAT IS ALSO IN MINT CONDITION. INCLUDED IS THE HANDBOOK, TOOL KIT AND FORK AIR GAUGE. THE TANK IS BEAUTIFUL, BLACK WITH THE SILVER PIN STRIPING, ITS ALL THERE AND NICE, THE SIDE COVERS ARE THE SAME. THE ONLY ATTENTION NEEDED IF YOU WANT IS WHAT THEY CALL THE DUCK BILL, ITS PART OF THE CHAIN GUARD IN THE REAR AND IT UNBOLTS, I DIDN'T MESS WITH IT, IT COULD STAND TO BE REPAINTED AS SOME OF THE PAINT CHIPPED OFF. IT IS SOOOO NICE THAT HONDA SHOULD PROBABLY BUY IT FOR A SHOWROOM PIECE. NATURALLY WHOEVER BUYS IT MIGHT WANT TO DO A FULL DETAIL TO GET BETWEEN THE HEAD FINS AND THE TINY SMALL AREAS BUT IT IS PRETTY CLEAN RIGHT NOW. THE PIPES ARE IN NICE SHAPE BUT TURNED BLUE NEAR THE HEADS I THINK BECAUSE OF HAVING THE CHOKE ON TO LONG WHEN I WOULD START IT IN THE COLD WINTERS. I REALLY HATE TO SELL IT BUT MY BROTHER PASSED AWAY AND I WAS GIVEN HIS HARLEY WHICH I TREASURE VERY MUCH. JUST THINK, THIS BIKE IS 28YRS OLD AND IS QUALIFIED FOR HISTORIC TAGS BUT LOOKS LIKE NEW. OOPS, FORGOT ONE THING, SOMEHOW OVER THE 28YRS THE LITTLE CHROME COVER FOR THE LOW-HIGH BEAM SWITCH CAME OFF, IT IS MISSING. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL TITLE IN HAND THE WAY IT WAS ISSUED TO ME IN 1983. I DON'T HAVE TO SELL THIS BUT I THINK ITS TIME SO SOMEBODY ELSE CAN ENJOY IT, ITS A BEAUTIFUL BIKE AND BECAUSE OF THE STYLING, IT YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW ITS A 83 AND NOT A 2011. On Mar-21-11 at 15:04:54 PDT, seller added the following information: i mentioned above about the duck bill guard, it is the part that covers the back of the disc brake rotor, not chain guard, it has a drive shaft lol On Mar-24-11 at 07:51:25 PDT, seller added the following information: well, i found the tac, box unopened for several years, hmmm, i got screwed again, i bought it off ebay, never had the time to install it, now i open the box and it is not the right tac, it is bigger with a lower rpm range, it is marked on the back as a cb1000c in marker, but i think if may be for a newer cb 1000 i think honda made later. oh well so much for that. On Mar-25-11 at 09:28:00 PDT, seller added the following information: i know how some people don't want to do anything to a bike when they buy it, so i just went out and purchased a new battery for it and it is on trickle charge to get a full charge, the bike started right up with it.
