Vehicle Detail
We bought this truck new and have put all the miles on it ourselves. The transmission was rebuilt about 75,000 miles ago. Has had a couple pieces of sheet metal added by us on the rocker panels. You can see this in two pictures. The four wheel drive works great. Will need a windshield as it is cracked on the passenger's side. Just finished a repair that included a water pump, new radiator, and thermostat. However, there is a very slight seeping of coolant from the side of the block on the right hand side behind the turbo area. My research shows that it is a very common problem that can be fixed a number of ways. The Cummins diesel engine blocks made between late 98 thru 2002 was cast either in Brazil or Mexico. The ones from Brazil had a cast number "53" on the side of the block. This engine does indeed have the "53" on it. It was the Brazil blocks that were succeptable to cracks on the exterior of the engine. I'm including a link or two that describes this more. She'll need tires and a rear pinion seal soon. The driver's seat could be recovered. We had bought a new 2011 Dodge and parked this truck back in October. It had a crack in the plastic radiator. We waited until we were financially able to buy a radiator and install it so the truck could be ready to be sold. The bearings in the water pump was noisy so we replaced that also. The thermostat was also done as it was easy to do. It has new anti-freeze in it and ready to go. It can be driven anywhere. Like I said earlier, there are may ways of fixing the very slight coolant leak. Epoxy on the outside is one. Drill and tap with special screws as per the Lock'n'Stitch company is another. Several different liquid repairs that guarantee results go in the cooling system are also available. If someone was seriously interested, we could try a repair for you. I didn't want to put a band-aid on it at this point as someone may want to do it themselves.
