I am selling my 1985 Chevrolet Caprice Classic station wagon. A little over 83k original miles, 305 V8, 4 speed automatic transmission (one of GM's best in this model), everything works, power brakes / steering / locks, crank windows (except tailgate window which is power), A/C and heat work well, AM/FM stereo, all 4 tires nearly new, all lights work inside and out, good battery. Runs well, but is driven little and needs a tune up. Idles rough for 3-4 minutes when cold, but once warmed up very smooth running. Nice ride, transmission shifts fine. No electrical problems, no overheating, brake fluid reservoir has a very minor leak. Body is in presentable shape, wear consistent with age with scuffs / small dings / paint touchups here and there - not beat up though and I do get alot of positive comments about the overall condition. Very little rust (see pictures). Headliner is sagging, mostly up front which is very typical of cars from this era. I have a few pins holding it up above the driver's seat. 3M makes a very good adhesive product for this if you are comfortable doing it yourself. Otherwise, a simple repair for any auto interior shop. Interior is pretty clean, vinyl seats in good shape with no rips. Some stains on the carpet in the cargo area. Has 3rd fold down seat in the back which looks like it has been barely used. Rear plastic bumper filler is mostly gone. All 4 passenger doors open and close very smoothly, rear cargo door needs to be closed a little more firmly. 3 original hubcaps, 2 are on one side of the car (3rd not on the car), 2 on opposite side are from an '86 Caprice. Currently titled and tagged as an antique, which means a state safety inspection in VA is not required. The car can be legally driven with antique plates but there are some restrictions (see VA DMV website). It is my opinion that the car would pass VA safety inspection if someone wanted to put regular tags on it and drive it daily. However, I make no guarantees or warranties regarding the car's fitness to pass a safety inspection in VA or elsewhere. I bought it to drive only occassionally so I put black plates on it. Title is free and clear. Cash or certified funds only in full within 3 days of auction end. If you want to pay with anything other than cash I will not release the car or the title until funds are verified, including cashier's checks or anyting similar. At my discretion I will cancel bids from any bidder with questionable feedback. Please don't bid for a chance to come look at the car - bid to buy only.
