Up for auction we have a 1986 944 Porsche with automatic transmission. Car need damper plate changed and new seal on transmission when torque tube goes in, it started leaking after I had a local mechanic try and change the damper plate and couldn't do it. I also have a used damper plate that was going to be changed on it. I just dont have the time to mess with it, it has sat too long (a little over a year) in the driveway. I start it every other week and let it warm up. The battery is about 2 years old. This was my wifes daily driver but used about 1-2 times a week for maybe 2 miles. Started to hear a rattle sound from the back of the engine that was diagnosed as a damper plate starting to tear, only at idle it would make the noise. The car is in good shape, remember its 25 years old, it could use a good compound, there are some water spots on the hood that start to come out with waxing so i am sure it would clean up really good with a good compound. The car has been always covered when not in use since i bought it in November of 2005. The pictures were taken with the cover just taken off and probably not washed since mid summer of last year. This has the nice ground effects, not the cheap looking ones, there is some peeling of the paint and some scratches here and there but its a sweet looking car, sunroof has some chipping on the edges (see the pictures for the spots), the tires are 6 years old, put them on when we first bought the car, bfgoodrich. I dont think we have put 4000 miles on it since we have had it. There are some tears on the driver-side seat on the bottom, passenger and rear seats are good, carpet is clean, headliner and door panels are good, there is a slight imperfection on the passengers side panel you can see in the picture. All electronics work except the cruise control and the sunroof. The sunroof motor is good, just need a gear changed in it someplace up by the sunroof itself, very common problem with these sunroofs, cheap fix. The heat and AC work good, had the condenser changed 2 years ago and the ac blew cold last summer, worse case it may need a charge of refrigerant. Once of the trims on the front headlight is not installed but i have it along with a spare for the other side. All in all its a great looking car that would be almost 100% if you have the damper plate changed. Feel free to contact me with any questions. You will not be able to drive this because of the front seal on the transmission leaking, you would be able to drive it on a trailer with no problems. I had the following work done on 8/13/2008 (2,000 miles ago) have the receipt: 1- rebuilt head with resurface 2- New thermostat and gasket 3- timing belt 4- micro v belt 5- valve guides 6- intake valve 7- exhaust valve 8- head gasket set 9- cam belt tensioner 10- balance shaft tensioner 11- cam shaft belt roller 12- water pump Valves were not bent, the timing belt did not break, i just wanted to have it changed before something happened and they suggested rebuilding the head while it was all apart so i said go ahead. This is also for sale locally so auction may end early if sold. Thanks for looking.
