Vehicle Detail
Here we have a very nice 1972 Mercury Montego MX Brougham. This car is in great overall shape, runs/stops and drives excellent and is a real head turner ! Condition: 1)Body: The body is in very good condition, the paint still shines! The chrome still shines! 1972 is the last year for the good looking bumpers (after 72 they have the big ugly 5 mile an hour bumpers) Glass is perfect! Although is doesn't show too well in the pictures the right front fender has been "rubbed" against something and has a very shallow dent in it, an easy fix for a body man and the rest of the car is so nice it would be worth doing! The vinyl top should be replaced. It has been patched in the back behind the rear window (see pic). There is NO rust bubbling under the top so it would be an easy fix. We see no signs that the car has ever been repainted. The underbody has no rust. Very solid. As it sits now the car looks great!. 2)Interior:the interior of this car is REALLY nice!. The car has power windows, power seats, air conditioning, A.M radio that has the under dash speaker fader front to rear and it works!, Everything works! you will need to have the A.C recharged. The headliner is in perfect shape, there are NO cracks in the dash pad. Speedo, all gauges AND warning lights work. All interior and dash lights work. Cigar lighter works. Carpet is still in good shape! THE INTERIOR IS SWEET!.3)Mechanical: This car has the 351 Cleveland 2v motor with automatic transmission. It starts right up! runs strong NO smoke, it is SUPER quiet, you can hardly tell it's running from inside. The transmission shifts very firmly and works as it should!. The car drives very well does not pull. The tires are in good shape with no odd wear patterns on them. The brakes stop strong and don't pull or swerve. The power steering works as it should with no leaks. Alternator and the rest of the charging system perform perfectly. The belts and hoses have been replaced in the not to distant past and look great. When you pop the hood you will find more of the same (all in great original condition),really looks great under the hood too! I drove this car nearly 300 miles home through a "pineapple express" torrential downpour when I bought it, at night and the car didn't miss a beat. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car across the country. The odometer reads 31,267 miles. I would assume given the age of the car that it would have been 131,267 , given the condition of the car , it could be original. So that no one is disappointed we will call it 131,267. I bought this car at a dealer in Portland Oregon that was closing (Portland car company). I literally called on his last day of business and drove roughly a 600 mile round trip to pick up the car as it would go to auction the next day. If you win you will be the third owner of the car. The owner of the car had lost the title so we have a Washington state Affidavit in lieu of title. It is an official Washington state document that has the owners name, title number,V.I.N,the owners release of interest signature and it also includes a sworn notary republic signature (see pic). It is different than a title in name only. You just treat it the same as you normally would a title. The title is clear. Overall this car is in really great original condition,it turns heads wherever we drive it. The car drives super with NO issues. Like I said I would drive this Montego across the country and not even worry about it.
