Vehicle Detail

UPDATE: If you use the "buy-it-now" option, I will include a set of later syle doors with roll-up windows and a very hard to find NOS close-ratio laygear as used in the Mini-Cooper S. Seperately, the doors routinely sell for $500/pair and the laygear for $150. As soon as someone places a bid, "buy-it-now" disappears and is no longer available. At that point, the doors and laygear will ** NOT ** be a part of this auction ** UNLESS ** the final sale price exceeds $2000 in which case I will include them for free, otherwise, they will be in another auction at a later date. THIS REPRESENTS A SUPER PACKAGE DEAL by using "buy-it-now" ! RARE FIND *** Early 1964 AUSTIN MINI MK1 *** EASY RESTORATION *** NO RESERVE AUCTION *** Please view the YouTube video for complete coverage of this car If you have always wanted a Mini, this is one worth investing in given its vintage, the low reserve price of this auction and how solid the body is. Detailed coverage of complete car, including the interior, is available by clicking on this YouTube Video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzJsfB63vvM I bought the car from an older gentleman in North Dakota who started the restoration before failing health limited his ability to complete it. I had the car shipped to a dry storage place in State College PA where it has remained for a number of years awaiting restoration behind another car I am restoring. Due to my financial situation from the loss of a job and death of a family member, I am regrettably forced to sell this car. This car represents an easy restoration. If you are familiar with Mini's, you know how inexpensive most parts are. If you are not familiar, check out websites like MiniMania.com for an idea of just how affordable parts are. Items this car will definately need include a Deluxe Carpet Set, Seat Upholstry Kit, one tail light lens, and front and rear bumpers. The parts that were taken off the car when the restoration was started are stored in several boxes along with a few new or NOS parts. I have no idea of how complete those parts, whether they are all functional or what is missing to make the car complete. The gas tank in the car appears to be fairly new. There are two front seats, a radiator, brake shoes, brake and clutch master cylinders, wheel cylinders, original hubcaps, one extra 10" tire rim, one tail light fixture, interior trim pieces, extra SU carbs, extra intake/exhaust manifolds, gear shift linkage, original air cleaner, badging, generator, starter, license plate lamp, etc, etc, etc. According to the VIN, this is an early 1964. There is no title, car will be sold with Bill of Sale ONLY. In Pennsylvania, you can file paperwork to go before a judge and be granted a title after paying a nominal fee for a title search. Other states vary, please check with your DMV before bidding. The car was in storage for years before a restoration was started a few years ago and never completed. Original color is Tartan Red. The right side door and bonnet were replaced as some point in its life. I have no way of telling is the mileage is actual, but given the rather undented nature of the car, I assume it is. Car comes with two engines and two transmissions. The original 850 (848cc) engine and transmission are included. The 850 engine is partially disassembled and the transmission has been separated from the block. The other engine is an 1100 (1098cc) and appears complete with the transmission and dual SU carbs. I have not been able to find any dents or bondo anywhere on the body. There are only a few small rust holes in what is otherwise sound metal. The largest hole can be found in the trunk and is about the size of a quarter but the metal around it is sound. I made the YouTube video of the complete car and parts in an attempt to accurately show any areas of rust and to showcase the extra parts with the car. Having said that, I find the car to be in suprisingly great shape for its age, which is why I purchased it. Please view the video and pictures before asking questions that can be answered by viewing them first. All Minis have rust, it comes down to how much, to what degree and whether it was properly repaired or just hidden. The floor boards appear solid with only a small "cheese grater" area below the pedals from moisture in the carpet. The left side sill most likely will need to be replaced due to the degree of rust in it. Both of these are visible in the video. The rear section of the right side sill was patched (poorly) by the previous owner and never completed. In fact, in the video you will note that the seam between the inside and outside near the rear seat still needs to be welded together. In the video this can be seen when the camera pans into the cubby box beside the rear seat. Patch panels and parts are available in a number of configurations to either patch or replace an entire section. I will also be listing a pair of Mini doors with roll-up windows and a rare NOS transmission close-ratio Laygear in my other auctions. The laygear is the same as used in the early Mini Cooper S cars and is a very hard to find part. This is the gearing that made the Cooper S fast off the line and out of the turns. The doors were rustproofed when new and need some minor tweaking to appear as new. Neither of these two items are a part of this auction.
