Vehicle Detail
Ford only produced 3,632 Ranchero GT's in 1971, so they definitely aren't as common as other cars of it's era. Arguably, a lot of people feel that the 1970 and 1971 Rancheros were the high water mark in terms of styling for this car/truck, and their limited production numbers make them sought after 40 years later. Up for for auction. my 1971 Ford Ranchero GT. H code, 351 2V, automatic, Wimbledon White with Red and Black interior. Reserve is set at the opening bid so.................... Happy bidding I purchased a Marti Report which goes with the car. A few cool tidbits in the report:Statistics: This car was one of:268 with this paint code, 51 with this paint and trim code, 1441 with this engine transmission codes, 297 with styled steel wheels. It was ordered with: Black vinyl roof, 351 2V ( rated 240hp @4600 rpm and 355 lbs.ft @ 2600 rpm) C4 Cruiseomatic trans, hidden headlights, g70 whitewall tires, visibility group, power steering, power front disc brakes, bumper guards, air conditioning, AM radio, body side moulding, Tinted Glass remote driver's side mirror, and styled steel wheels. It was bulit in Atlanta and delivered to Lewis Byars Ford in Granbury Texas. At some point after that, the Ranchero made it's way to sunny California, where it still proudly and somewhat defiantly rolls down the road 40 years later. The car itself is fun to drive. it starts, drives smooth and straight, no brake noise, stops just fine, lights, horn, and signals all work. It snaps a lot of heads around here when I take her out. It has had a recent oil/filter change, new hoses, fan belt, fuel pump, battery, starter, carb recently rebuilt, and alternator. It's tuned and running well.I just adjusted the fuel mix, and it fires right up.Like I said before the car is in decent but not show car shape. It needs to be redone as far as the interior goes. The original Black carpet is still in there and servicable, but it is shot. Headliner is gone. The dash could use a cap as it has some normal wear issues. The split bench seat needs to be rocovered. The car needs a wiper switch for daily driving. I found one here on Ebay for 40 bucks plus shipping. The door panels are ok, but have been cut for speakers. The driver's door seems to be sticking when opening it from the outside, but not when opened from the inside?? One more thing, I don't have the keys to the door locks. As for the body. The driver's side is straight, with some dents just above the bumper at the very back of the quarter panel and is missing the door guard trim,. The passenger side is straight from the front bumper to the rear tire. The other troublesome spot is the outside panel of the tailgate. The FORD and GT letters are missing and it is dented with a sloppy repair job. There is a small rust bubble/hole at the bottom of the passenger door. Mechanically things are pretty sound, It has a non numbers 351 Windsor. The AC is gone, a few parts remain. Starts right up and runs good, shifts well. The suspension is good, rides smooth. Brakes are good and quiet. It came optioned with front disc brakes. The power steering pump seems a bit whiny, but not too bad, steers fine. The temperature gauge is not working, and the heater hoses are not hooked up. Still has single exhaust!! (definitely not hot rodded) That's how it was when I bought it, thought about running dual exhaust, but kept the original configuration. The car does still have the factory hideaway headlights, I don't know how to make them function (vacuum system) but everything appears to be there. The Nada price index on this car is good: http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1971/Ford/Ranchero-GT/Pickup/Values Anyway, the value of these Ranchero's have been steady and should remain so, due to their limited production numbers. Here's your chance to own this one, drive it or restore it. As far as shipping goes, I will be happy to work with the buyer to get the car where it needs to be. I live near the port of Long Beach, so it's relatively simple for me to take the car to a container ship if need be to arrange for overseas shipping. I mention this because I know that Rancheros are wildly popular in Australia and South Africa. The car obviously can be driven onto a transport truck for conventional cross country shipping, and I can assist in that as well. If you are local, just drive it home.
