Vehicle Detail
I'm the owner of this car and previously had my son list for me. On the listing we incountered a winning bidder problem. The bidder states he never bid and his account was hacked into and made bids without his permission. I'm not sure of this excuse but here I am relisting hoping to find a truely interested party to buy this fine piece of history. On April 21st 1967 Keith Penland of Marietta, GA picked up his shinny new Mountain Green RS/SS camaro from Anderson Motor Co. He ordered it with the SS 350 option, power steering, powerglide trans, rally package, push botton radio, tinted glass, wheel covers and console for a total price of $3490.76.He paid the car off from the national bank of Georgia on May 12th 1969 and there is the original payoff slip with the car. The original sales order and window sticker carbon copies are with the car also,we suspect the originals were kept by the family. The original brochure, keys, protecto plate and plastic envelope are with the car as well. The original family sold it to another GA resident in 2001 and sold it to me in early 2006. When I bought it it was still wearing original faded paint and was as dry underneath as an old car comes. A body on resto was started in spring of 2006. The car was stripped to bare metal and some rear wheel lip rust was uncovered when removing the moldings. New quarter skins were put on rather than a piece together repair. No evidence of a repair as the original quarter jams were left intact. All other panels are original to car. Car was a pleasure to work on as care was taken to note all assembly line markings. What ever was discovered got put back on car. This was not a case of just adding random marks like any other car. There was a date found on the frame rail. It is upside down as it must have been stamped when the frame moved along the plant. Suspension parts and spindles were documented in pictures and replicated. The car has new front suspension parts and new NOS old Delco Pleasurizer shocks to give car that old 60's look. The engine was taken out of car and it was decided even with 135,000 the car motor did not need a total teardown and rebuild. The car didn't leak, tick, smoke or have valve seal issuses like most chevy's. If it was rebuilt at one time or another we don't know. Original block markings were duplicated like the pictures show and were painted over just like the plant did. Motor was freshened up with an oil pump and gaskets where needed. Engine is the original #'s matching one. The MU coded block and and VIN is clearly the one that matches the car. Carb is year correct and gone through completely. Power glide trans is also original to car and was regasketed, cleaned and painted. Transmission was not a problem before or now. Shifts real smooth. Rear end is original to car which is a 3:31 open. A reproduction traction bar was added due to the original one being removed at some point in time. The car had perfect brake and fuel lines and just required some clean up and a flush. Gas tank was removed for detailing also with a new sender. Trunk was 100% solid with no soft spots by shock mounts and old astrostar red line tire still resides on original rim. The car was restored to a high level using base clear and the stripes were laid out next to a factory photo rather than a stencil kit. The stripes are buried in the clear. Car was cut and buffed to a beautiful finish. Gardner exhaust was chosen for the car as they are THE best out there for a correct fit and finish. Wide oval redlines were chosen as it compliments the green very well and added 14" rally's which car did not come with originally. Car has original date coded glass and interior is as good as it was new. Only flaw in the headliner is the size of a pencil tip. Dash is original and has no cracks. An aftermarket radio is installed with rear package tray speakers but nothing was cut out or ruined. All stainless trim was professionally polished and buffed to a mirror finish. Car has been driven sparingly which a tank of gas usage a year. Never been washed only dusted. The only things not working is one of the headlight motors. It died soon after resto. I have a NEW one in box that goes with. Gas tank guage is on the blink as we suspect a wire issue. A ground wire or sending unit wire. All in all this car would be a great addition to someone's collection. Reason for selling is starting a new project. Please look at the below LINK as there are nearly 200 picturesof car before, during and after resto. So feel confident in this car as we have gone to great lenghts to bring this car up to a high standard and present it as such.Car is sold as is with no warranties. Call me if you have any questions. Bob at 414-303-5316. Thanks for looking and I hope someone will enjoy this vehicle as I have. If not sold will go to a museum for consignment and it will be listed for alot more. This car would sell at an auction for more than I'm asking!!!
