For those of us who love the 7.3 Ford diesels, this is about as good as it gets. Gorgeous, low mileage, one owner, pampered, never plowed before today, needs nothing truck. I bought it recently from the original owner who is a tree surgeon owner/operator. He ordered this truck new with the plow prep package and had the dealer put on a Fisher set up thinking he would service his summertime customers in the winter. Didn't realize how big the truck would be with the 12' bed. Not really manuverable for small areas. So he never developed a route and sold the blade. The truck was parked most winters while he went someplace warm. So there are no rust issues. 4x4 was rarely engaged. I put on a used but strong 9' Fisher Minute Mount II blade along with a handheld controller and just tested it today. Plows like a freight train. There is no substitute for torque, traction and mass when it comes to pushing snow or snow banks. The truck shows pride of ownership with tasteful modifications like stainless steel wheel simulators, nerf bars, under body lockable aluminum tool bins ($1,600), Billet grill, rain guards, visor, bug deflector, trailer brake control, pintle hitch. He also had a Banks PowerPack system installed the first month he owned it at a cost of $4,500. This upgrades the air intake, turbo, waste gate, exhaust, transmission control, gauges for the turbo boost, exhaust and tranny temp, etc. Increases air flow and provides an extra 100+ horsepower while decreasing temperatures and increasing mileage. Feels more responsive than my stock F350. Banks has been a leader for decades in the quest for improving performance and economy and has a rock solid reputation. Most of you probably know but the F550 is the big boy in the Ford light duty line up. It is NOT an F350 with extra springs. The chassis is heavier along with all the suspension pieces. The wheels on an F350 are 16". The F550 are 19.5". The gross vehicle weight of the 350 is around 13,000 and the 550 is 18,000 but still falls below the need for a commercial drivers license or CDL. Also easier at state inspection time with less stringent requirements. The pictures give you an idea how nice the truck is. It drives equally well. No smoke, leaks, shakes or smells. Goes in and out of four wheel drive easily and hub locks turn freely. Front tires are brand new and rears are 85%. Disc brakes at all four corners are 90%. 4 new Monroe shocks. Side boards are brand new 2" thick oak planks. Very heavy and rugged. All fluids and filters were changed out including the transmission. New winter wipers. Glass is crystal clear, no chips, cracks or scratches. Undercarriage was rust free and I had it undercoated to keep it that way. Starts fine in the cold and there is a block heater for extreme weather. Truck is mint mechanically and cosmetically and needs nothing. At only 28,000 miles it could almost pass for new condition and compares well with the $65,000 ones. Defects? Only a couple. The plow has a slight wrinkle in the face (see picture) that does not affect strength or performance and the cab has a couple very small dents. I tried to show them but they are hard to see. Paint is deep and fade free. Just washed it and the water beads up on the hood just the way you want to see it. Everything works as it should. This includes the power windows, locks, mirrors, cruise control, delay wipers, AM/FM/CD/Tape radio, gauges, bulbs, etc. He said the A/C works fine but it was too cold for me to test. The seats are firm with no rips or stains. No wear on steering wheel. No cracks in dash, etc. Check my 100% feedback and bid with confidence.
