Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1969 Honda Mini-Trail Z 50 A with the original Owners Manual. A friend of mine bought this new in the spring of 1970 from the Honda dealer in San Angelo, TX. I was with him when he bought it and to keep it a secret from his mother he kept it at my house. We road the heck out of this little guy but he never quit. So it was no surprise that we broke the frame on both sides at the lower curve in the axle (see pictures). The Skid Plate was purchased from the same Honda dealer a few months later so it is also from the same ere. At one point we put Moto-X handle bars on it and painted it black. My Father bought it from my friend in 1976-77. After that it traveled from Texas to Connecticut to California and back to Texas. 99% of that time was spent in storage. I got it back from my Dad in 2003. Restored it myself in 2004 so being a “rookie” some mistakes were made. Mistakes or Opps: The Vin Tag was lost during the restoration. The guy who painted it must have thought the bottom of the forks were the top so the top of the forks had just some over spray on them (see pictures). I noticed this a little too late. Tried to match it but failed. My brother in-law fixed one of the welds on the frame and asked me if I wanted to re-weld the other side and fix the pitting at the bottom put I declined (see pictures). I was too inpatient to get it running again. At some point I hooked the wiring harness back up wrong so the headlight stays on all the time. I didn’t worry about any of this because I never thought I’d sell it but I’m saving for a bigger Harley and the Mini just sits in the garage. Facts: Comes with the original Owners Manual (cover is missing). All the “shiny” parts were re-chromed or re-polished. The front Fender is showing a little pitting. It starts on the 1st kick most of the time but it is VERY cold blooded and needs to warm up for a long time. Once warm it runs very well. If it’s been sitting for awhile it may smoke for a bit. The Head or Crank-Case has not been off or cracked open for about 35 years. This is all original except for the following parts (have most of the original parts and they go with the Mini if you want). All the Parts replaced are genuine Honda with the exception of some of the small nuts and bolts. Brake Pads front & rear. Wiring Harness tie downs. Chain. Rear Brake Cable. Throttle Cable. Rubber Grommets for cables on the handle bars. Fork Boots. Wheels & Tires (the nuts and bolts that hold the wheels together are original). Stinger on the exhaust pipe. Axel adjustments. Tail Light holder. Rear Fender. Seat & Pan (does not have the seem running down the back but like I said this is a genuine Honda part). Foot Pegs & Bracket. Kick Stand. Rear Sprocket. Forgot to add: The Gas Cap was replaced due to a screw up at the chrome shop (have original). Gas Tank was “sealed”. There is Title for this bike. It was lost years ago. This is PICK-UP only. If you want it shipped you will need to make arrangements with a shipping company or motorcycle shop to create and ship it. I’ll be glad to drop it off at a local company you choose to do this for you. All cost for this is buyer’s responsibility. But once they sign a receipt that I turned it over to them I’m done. Do this at your own risk. SALE TO LOWER 48 STATES ONLY! Don’t bid if you’re not going to pay! Please feel free to ask Questions.
