Vehicle Detail
Up for Sale is my 61 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertable. One of 247 Survivors of 1,450 made. Original numbers matching Eldorado with a 390 c.i. 4 bbl, Automatic Transmission, Power Steering. Power Brakes. Loaded with standard luxury features, e-z eye glass, power windows including vent windows, power locks, power seats, power top, autronic eye, cruise control, push button am radio with wonderbar and power antenna. Dash lights and instruments work well as do the headlights, tail lights, brake lights, parking lamps and turn signals. Radio and horns usually work. This Eldorado is 100% complete and original except for the replacment top, the original top was black in color. replacement upholstery over original ostrich skin, charging system was updated to alternator (original generator is with the car), Original jack and spare tire cover with car. I think the 4 bbl carb is a Carter, the original should be a Rochester. Has new master cylinder not installed. The radiator is in good shape and the heater works fine with no leaks. The top works strongly and goes up and down nicely. Power windows work good except for drivers side vent. Cigarette lighter works. Engine has no knocks but has poor compression on a few cylinders and runs pretty good. Automatic transmission leaks but works good as long as it has fluid. The Interior is kinda rough, front door panels are worn and tattered with damaged or broken backing board but all hardware and trim is there. Dashboard and interior trim is in very good condition. Now for the good stuff....The car has never been in hit and the sheetmetal is straight and true. The frame is straight and solid with no rust. The body is structurely rock solid. Inner wheel houses and inner rocker panels are solid. The floor pans in front of the seats has rusted through the centers, but the braces, re-enforcments and tunnel are solid. The body mounts are mostly solid except one or two with very minor rust. Drivers side fender and door are solid with very little to no rust. Outer rocker panels are solid well around the edges but have rusted through on the faceside that had been poorly repaired by the previous owner. Quarter panels are also solid except for the minor rust at the rear as can be seen in the pictures. Trunk lid is solid. Trunk floor is solid but has some pinholes that I think were caused by a leaking battery in the trunk many years ago. Passanger door is solid showing little to no rust. Passanger fender is solid except for the rust out above the headlight. All Stainless and chrome trim are in very good condition with only a few minor dings here and there, Bumpers are solid with no dents but the chrome is well worn,Well that about sums it up...You are bidding on a great Eldorado for restoration.I have known this car for about 30 years and have owned her for the past 6. If properly restored this would be a very desireable and very valuable collectors car. If I had the dough I would restore it myself, that was the plan...Please feel free to call me at 618-342-6860 if you have any questions, ask for joe and tell them your calling about my Eldorado. I reserve the right to end auction early as my Eldorado is for sale locally While researching my Biarritz I found a guy who claims to have documentation that only 247 of the 1,450 1961 Eldorado Biarritz Convertables have Survived. I have attached his link. http://www.georgeandevesclassicmotorcars.com/4.htm While researching additional information about my Biarritz I found a guy who has documentation claiming that of the original 1,450 1961 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertables produced, There are only 247 Survivors left on the planet.
