Vehicle Detail
2003 Honda Valkyrie 1500CD - Exc. Original Cond. This is an extremely well cared for 2003 Honda Valkyrie F6. One of the best cruisers ever produced for the American market. The first Valkyrie appeared in 1997. The bike utilizes Honda's flat 6 cylinder 1520 cc opposed engine. It is an extremely smooth engine with incredible horsepower and torque. This engine was designed to carry the rider and a passenger in comfort down the road mile after mile. Honda continued building the Honda Valkyrie in America for 6 more years after the introductory model. This is the last year, the 2003 Valkyrie. (As a side note, Honda did build the 2004 and 2005 Honda Rune and technically this bike is also a Valkyrie). This particular 2003 Honda Valkyrie was sold new on 03/11/04 in Thousand Oaks, CA. The original owner, a successful banker, retired a few years later to Arizona. I purchased the bike directly from the original owner last year. Too many bikes and too little time have now made this bike available for sale. It is in excellent condition. The original black paint shines like the day it rolled off the showroom floor. The tires are in excellent condition with plenty of miles left. The bike recently was serviced by the local Honda dealer and the carbs were cleaned and synchronized at a cost of $787. This bike has over $2,700 of tasteful options including a Honda windscreen ($579), a rear chrome carrier, LeatherLyke Cross Country Saddle Bags ($490) that are quickly and easily removed, Cobra Passenger Floorboards ($290), The Iron Horse Leather Tank Bib ($113), Rider Backrest and Pad ($268), Cobra Dual Light Bar ($360), Front Fender Chrome Guard & Trim ($220) and Rear Fender Chrome Trim ($110). In July, 1996, Cycle World magazine tested the new 1997 Honda Valkyrie. They called it, "Honda's 100-hp Cruise Missile". One of its main competitors was the Yamaha Royal Star 1300. Because of its shorter wheelbase and lower center of gravity, the Honda out handled and out muscled the Yamaha. The Valkyrie blazed through the quarter mile in just 12.03 seconds at 110.58 mph, well ahead of the Royal Star at 13.92 seconds and 90.28 mph. The Valkyrie engine, while a variation of the F6 Gold Wing motor dating back to 1988, has many upgrades including 6 carburetors instead of 2, freer-flowing exhaust, upgraded valve train and ignition and hotter cams. The Valkyrie puts out over 100 horsepower and over 100 foot-pounds of torque. This compares to the Gold Wing's output of 79 horsepower and 88 foot-pounds of torque. According to Cycle World's research, "Valkyrie" was one of the maidens of the mythological Norse god Odin who hovered over the field of battle choosing those to be slain. Watch out, Yamaha Royal Star, Kawasaki Vulcan and Suzuki Intruder. This Valykrie runs, handles and rides like a dream. It has just over 7,300 gently ridden miles. The bike has been well cared for and the seller will change the oil and filter with genuine Honda products before delivery to the new owner. There is some minor "checking" in the factory clear coating on the lower portion of the front forks. There is also some minor imperfections on the chrome of the Cobra light bar. Included in the sale are both original keys, two keys for the LeatherLyke saddle bags, a Honda Valkyrie key fob, the factory owner's manual, the factory tool kit, a "Cycle World" July, 1996 magazine issue, a copy of the original sales invoice and a copy of the recent Honda dealer service invoice. Shipping is the buyer's expense and I will gladly work with your shipper. I will possibly deliver the bike to within 400 miles of Phoenix, AZ at a cost of $250 or less depending on distance.
