Vehicle Detail

Tachometer reads 186272km (1 kilometer = 0.621371192 miles ) Excellent running and driving model 911sc. This car has been well cared for mechanically, includes upgraded carrera oil fed chain tensioners, pop off valve in air box, factory Bilstein shocks, H4 headlights, rare rear windshield wiper, and 16x7&8 factory fuchs wheels. There are no cracks in the dash, seats are from an 85 carrera and have minimal wear, carpets show some wear. Transmission shifts well, brakes are in good working order. Please note that because this car is a Euro model and the odometer is in kilometers which I have converted into miles. A nice driving fun 911 that looks great from ten feet. VIN # 9119310402. No rust on floor pan or suspension points. Car has turbo lower valve covers. No broken head studs. Motor runs really strong with good oil pressure. The car needs 2nd gear syncro. I have been driving it like this for a long time, I just take a 2 second pause before shifting after a week of driving its natural, I never even think about it. Higher horse power, 3.0 liter engine makes this a great candidate for a track car. Typical of every 911, this one leaks a little oil. I'm talking a drop or two on the garage floor. It does not smoke, and there are no funny noises or smells. If you've been following prices of 911 SC's (especially Euro Targa's) you know they've jumped through the roof. Excellence magazine, the magazine for Porsche fanatics, quotes ACTUAL selling prices and shows the SC has appreciated considerable. These cars are now worth upwards of $20,000 based on their buyers reports. This is your opportunity to buy a great driver. Restore it, drive it. convert it to a track car, your options are unlimited. Shipping costs are yours, but I’ll help with the arrangements. You can leave it here for a month after it’s paid for to make arrangements. The car is in Windsor Connecticut, about 100 miles south of Boston and 110 miles north of NY City. If you want to drive it home, you can fly into BDL Hartford CT, we are 5 minutes from the airport. The 1974–89 911s offer strong value because they are nice, reliable, and affordable Porsches that can still be used as everyday cars. The 911 SC, which followed the 2.7, is thought by many to be one of the best 911s built. When the 3.0-liter SC engine was introduced in 1978, mechanics hailed it as a big step forward. There had been a variety of troubling and costly repairs with the 2.7-liter powerplants. Because the newer engine solved so many problems, the 3.0-liter 911 SCs carry a substantial premium over earlier cars. This could make a 2.7-liter 911 a tempting purchase, but buyers can’t fix much of what can go wrong with the money they save. The 2.7-liter 911 is still a fine car and many owners have enjoyed them without problems for years. However, that is not the case with most owners. If you are a prospective buyer for one of these cars, you should consider how much more reliable the 3.0-liter engine is. I know of one SC that has logged over 450,000 miles without any major engine work. - Excellence Magazine, 2010 What it has: 100% stock, car fitted with turbo fuchs wheels Very limited run. 911SC’s are expected to be the fastest appreciating 911’s as the earlier 911’s have increased too rapidly. No rips in the seats. The top of this dash does not have cracks. Engine pulls just like new 186,000 km original miles 116,000 miles. For a 31 + year old classic, this car has been driven on average 3600 miles per year. Mechanically sound. Body is straight and true, no accidents. Car is very light and fast, weighs less than 2800 lbs with horsepower of 180@5500 and torque of 244@4200, compression at 9.3:1 What it needs: Paint, needs attention, has rock chips and needs touch up Cosmetically, Targa top has small scratches toward the back, needs to be repaired or refinished Radio needs to be wired but in good condition Rear headliner (behind Targa top) on passenger side starting to detach, needs TLC Power windows work with new fuses, tend to pop fuses now and then Rust spot on passenger side door jam and small spot near rear window, see photo Rear seat pads very thin, need replacing Floormats need to be replaced Value: NADA as of 10/10, $17,000 (low retail) – $25,900 (high retail) Excellence Magazine, a magazine about Porsches, shows the value of an '79 911SC (based on actual cars sold) increasing 34.4% from 2003-2009 ($18,075 to $24,300) Car reserve is priced thousands below low NADA Due to previous auctions, we must specify that your bid is a legally binding contract to purchase an item, not the option to think about it or back out of it.
