The pinnacle of BMW design and engineering is captured in this "no expense spared to develop" ultimate BMW supercoupe. An absolute dream to drive, you are the master of the universe on the highway with monstrous amounts of torque available at any speed or in any gear to propel you past virtually any plebian motorcar you may encounter along the way. The design of the 850ci stills turns heads for us driving down the freeway 15 years following its introduction, and the car is swiftly becoming a collectible with a sizeable cult following. BMW simply never built one better than the 850ci - it's the total package of exclusivity, luxury and performance.
This 840 CI runs and looks amazing. The issues found were the following: the bottom of the trunk (underneath the license plate) has a small rounded dent, no paint damage. Its actually very hard to see and notice, but its there. It does not affect any mechanics of the trunk. Next, when the car is first started, a code is read on the radio- 'Trans Fail Safe Prog'. After about 5-10 minutes of driving around or remaining idle, it disappears. We had a licensed BMW tech look at this- He rand multiple tests. There were no mechanical issues found. His conclusion was that there is some sort of bad circuit/ wire on the transmission control modulator. Again, it does not affect driving in any way. If you 'd like us to drive it to a local mechanic- we'd be more than happy to. Good Luck!
