Vehicle Detail

This is a great looking 914 that would be a great platform for a 6 cylinder conversion if you choose. If not just keep her as she is and enjoy. She is a driver...not a show car. The exterior photos, like all I've ever seen, look better than she does from 5' away, though she is a looker, getting comments wherever she goes. There are some minor scuffs and scratches, but nothing major. No body rust or damage. There is some minor rust behind the pedal assembly where the floor pan meets the bottom of the left front wheel well. The car was completely rebuilt and painted in 1989 and then sat until two years ago...the reason for the low miles (54,452). In 1989 she got a full set of German steel 914GT flares that were installed perfectly...no potential for cracking like fiberglass ones. The fenders alone cost $3,600. At that time the battery tray and under were replaced and repaired for the normal rust problems. The longs are in great shape and never needed any work. The engine was rebuilt at that point with 96 mm cylinders giving her a displacement of 1911 cc. So, the engine has only about 5,000 miles on the rebuild. At the same time she was given a side shifter transmission replacing the sloppy stock rear ender. The fuel injection was replaced with Weber IDF 40s, which have been completely rebuilt (no chokes so she's cold hearted at first). I replaced all fuel lines with stainless Steel ones and moved the new rotary fuel pump up to the front. Suspension is 911 up front, with BOGE struts and Bilstein inserts, so she sports five lugs wheels. Those wheels are VERY expensive collectible BBS RS wheels(7" front , 8" rear) from the period (restored sets sell for >$2,500). Wheels have aluminum spacers to give her that gorgeous stance you see in the photos. Tires are like new...Dunlop Sport 5000 that are 205/16 front and 225/16 rear. Weltmeister sway bars front and rear with all new bushings. All new tie rod ends and ball joints. GTPerformance.com in Edgewood (very successful Porsche racers and preparers) just did four wheel alignment and balance. She also has vented 911 rotors. I installed VERY loud dual Fiamm horns. I replaced the inner door seals and all of the seals on the top. I also redid the dash face material. The dash itself has one crack right above the ash tray. The seats have some small splits that are covered with electrical tape...they could certainly stand being recovered. The carpet looks MUCH better than it does in the photos. The gray just doesn't photograph well with the settings I'm using. I hadn't planned on replacing it. If you want a steel flared 914, you couldn't buy the steel and repaint the car for under $5,000 and that's if you did the work yourself. You'd have to spend at least that much to find a rust free 914 IF you could find one at all! The wheels are worth $1,500 as they are and twice that refinished. Weber IDF40s? Another $1,200. Then you get a big bore kit, low miles, 911 five lug suspension, stainless steel lines already done for you. I'm home and can meet with your shipper, but it's your responsibility. It's either cash or wait for your check to clear (even certified and bank ones) before the car leaves it's heated garage. Check out my feedback rating, almost 500 and 100% positive. I'm a mensch (Google it). I'm only selling to make room for a new project...always need something new going on.
