Vehicle Detail

BODY: This original 1948 Suburban was a bodyoff down to the last nut and bolt restoration project. We used the best all steel, stainless, safety glass and rubber original and replacement parts. Where possible original parts were blasted, restored, painted or plated. All original parts were used, they were dipped, stripped, primed, painted, polished, powder coated, chromed and buffed to the max. The paint from House of Color was the PPG base coat and top clear coat system. Frame and all interpanels were POR 15 treated for maximum rust proof. Bumper and all emblems were done by Central Plating. All repro parts were from the Truck Shop in Orange, CA. ENGINE & DRIVELINE: It started with the ZZ-3 Chevrolet Vortec crate motor. Wayne's engines in Riverside added an Isky roller hydraulic cam, roller rockers, improved oiling system, topped with Eldebrock aluminum manifold and a Rochester Quadrajet from the Carb Shop in Costa Mesa. Sparks comes from HEI distributor and a 110 amp alternator. Transmission is a GM 700R 4 speed automatic overdrive fitted by Luke's Trans in Riverside, coupled to an Inland Driveshaft with HD u-joints. Rear end is from Lincoln and carries 9" ring & pinion with power disc brakes. CHASSIS: 1948 Chevrolet Suburban frame sand blasted down to the bone. National Springs fitted to hold the Lincoln rear end. A 20 gallon stainless gas tank relocated to the center/rear. Classic Engineering furnished the power brake booster to control the all wheel disc brakes. We used 100% new brake lines, with Krugel clamps & stainless braided hoses. Independent front suspension is AMC with power rack and pinion steering controlled by a Cadillac steering tilt & zoom column. INTERIOR: Leather seating and console is from a 1999 Tahoe was installed. All new trim to mach the dark leather was used on the doors and side panels Headliner, kick panels and carpet to match was done by Jason Loose. All interior window trim was powder coated, dash parts were original and polished & chromed to fit the Bedde 12v gauges. AM/FM Classic Radio with speakers and electric windshield wipers, power windows and power driver's seat. This was a January 2004 Barrett Jackson purchase and it has 2300 miles since build. This is an excellent driver not a trailer queen, will consider a partial trade.
