Up for NO RESERVE bid is our trusty Volvo 240 DL. We have owned this vehicle for appx. 8 years and it has been in constant, reliable service all that time. This car was purchased based upon the 240's legendary solid reliability reputation and it has never let us down. Scheduled maintenance has always been performed as called for and on-time. Engine is strong and does not burn oil. Drive train is tight and the overdrive functions properly, either automatically or on demand via the gear selector lever button. Car tracks down the road beautifully. It has never been smoked in. Body condition is very good. No rust through or evidence of same. Complete brake system overhaul (rotors, pads) was done 2 years ago. Tires are wearing evenly. Estimate that they have 10 to 15 thousand miles of use in them before they hit the tread wear indicator. Original Volvo stereo/cassette unit is included, however in the dash and working fine is an Aiwa CDC-X304 stereo/CD unit powering 4 replacement speakers in the original factory door locations. Owner's manual is included. With every car this age, there are issues that come with the territory and to fair and under full disclosure they are: Mileage is an estimate. Shortly after the car was purchased, the odometer ceased to function (speedometer works fine). This is a known issue with 240's due to the material used in the mechanical odometer. The mileage shows almost 106,000 miles and we have conservatively estimated it has about 185,000 miles on the car today. The A/C is not blowing cold air. This started late last summer. I had it looked at by a Volvo mechanic who felt confirmed that the compressor was working properly on demand and suggested freon re-charge. The oil pan drain plug is allowing oil to drip a bit. During the next oil change it should be examined and corrected. The passenger side taillight lens is missing the cover for the backup light. The windshield has a bulls eye crack in the driver's side which has not spread in two years. The dark blue paint on the hood, top and trunk has started to fade. Please note that on the passenger side there is slight parking lot damage to the rear door and even slighter damage to the front door. There is no rust or severe damage to the paint in those areas affected. The glove box latch has failed and would need a new striker bar on the glove box side. The carpet has worn through in the area where the drivers heel rests. The cloth interior is in good to very good condition with no rips or tears of any kind. The seats are very comfortable, a Volvo trait. I would sell this car to a friend and I would let any member of my family drive it anywhere, and have - thats how reliable and solid this car has been and is today. I reserve the right to cancel all existing bids and end the auction should the vehicle no longer be available for sale. A $200.00 deposit is due within 72 hours of the auction. This deposit is non-refundable should the buyer fail to pay the remaining balance when due. The deposit may be paid either by PayPal or certified bank cashier check.
