Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1977 Triumph Spitfire. This is a project car. It has no engine, but it does have a transmission and complete drivetrain. It also does not have any keys. Pink slip is in hand. This is a great vehicle to start a restoration project. From all indications the car has never been involved in an accident. The lines are very straight. Everything fits well, however the driver's door appears to be off align by a 1/8 of an inch. The hood has a significant dent. I'm not a body man, but I would think that it could be popped out. The dent does not effect the framework inside the hood for the front fenders. There a couple other inperfections in the body, but considering that the car is 33 years old it's in fantastic condition. The car did have a gnarly luggage rack. I removed it. As a result there are holes in the truck lid which at some point need to be filled. This is a California car. It has no significant rust. The body and frame are rust free. Included is a picture of the pan, you can see that the underside of the car is in great condition. The battery box is rusted through as is to be expected. There is some surface rust on a few of the metal parts, but nothing major. Of course a Californian's concept of a little rust is nothing compared to the damage done to cars in places where salt is used on the highways in the winter. The interior is in good shape, but realistically just about everything should be replaced during restoration. The seats frames are in excellent shape, but the seat padding is completely rotten. The carpet is there, but should be completely replaced. The door panels can be salvaged and the panels behind the seats can be saved. The wood dash needs to be replaced. All of the gauges are in good condition, although I do not know if they all work. The gas tank is in great condition. The trunk is real solid albeit painted in different colors. The bumpers are keepers, although the rear bumper does have a small blemish right in the middle. The rest of the exterior trim, tail lights, head lights, etc are all keepers. There is only one front reflector/sidelight missing. Otherwise you won't have to shop for any lights or lens. I would definately restore this vehicle myself, if it were not for California vehicle smog policies, which takes all of the motor building fun away for a 1977. For you Spitfire fans in other states the slate is wide open. If you are a California bidder please contact me for additional dmv information. Shipping: I certainly will assit you in any way possible, but it is your responsibiltiy to arrange for the shipping of the car. Pick-up is welcome. This vehicle is sold as-is with no warranty implied.
