This is a 1981 1.6 litre Diesel custom L rabbit that I bought for a change out to run on biofuel or do a modification to WCO. I spent a lot of time and money restoring this rabbit and just could not bring myself to cutting it up to modify it. It gets an amazing 40+ miles per gallon for a 4 speed and is very dependable. It runs great, shifter has some wear, clutch is good and starts right up. I did modify the drivers seat to add more leg room--I'm 6-2. I have the owners manual and two service manuals that go with it. Also a 5 speed transmission and a box of spare parts. Originally the car had A/C but the seal kit was to expensive to install so A/C was removed. Does not have the original radio but has a CD player. NO RUST--all rust was removed and sheet metal was repaired. Dash has no cracks and has the ash tray! All lights work, has good heat, all glass is good. Tires are new, breaks are new, carpet, seat covers, radiator, belts, paint, grill, undercoat, alternator, shocks (back), filters, horn, windshield all new. This is what it needs to be complete--drives side wiper arm is cracked, headliner, windshield washer doesn't work, exterior hand latch on passenger back doesn't work. THIS CAR IS NOT PERFECT!!! The car has a new alighnment and tracks great. I suggest that the new owner have some mechanical ability to maintainence this car to keep it up and running with some diesel/VW experience.
