Vehicle Detail
Great Running 1995 Volkswagon Jetta III. I have owned the car for a year and have driven it about 25,000 miles and it has been fabulous. I commuted to and from Virginia 8 times during this fall (8 hours each way on the highway) and it drives beautifully. Put studded tires on, and it can go anywhere in the snow. The car is not a showroom car though. It is a 1995 and it was been driven almost every single day. It is in excellent shape but if you want a car that is 100% perfect from an appearance standpoint, this is not the car. It does have a few scratches and a couple of very small rust spots. I have included pictures of the blemishes that I am aware of, although I am not guaranteeing that I have captured every single one. Again, you want a great, reliable car - this is it. And I will say, as far as blemishes are concerned, they are so small that from 15 feet I doubt anyone could see them. The car is being sold "AS IS, WHERE IS". I am not a mechanic (although i have a great one in Brooklyn that has fantastic reviews on cartalk.org) so this is all a layman's opinion although because of the long drives I go on, I do have it checked regularly. The AC doesn't blow cold but the blower works and the heater works really really well. I just don't care much about AC so I never even looked into finding out how to fix it. The rear speaker cover is cracked but, to the best of my knowledge, the speaker still works. There are a couple of blemishes on the seats and the mats could use a cleaning (but they are NOT filthy or anything like that - just normal wear and tear). The Check Engine light comes on once in a while but I PROMISE you it has been doing this since I bought the car and I have driven it 25,000 miles WITH the light coming on every once in a while. I took the car to a VW mechanic who hooked it up to the diagnostic equipment and he said everything, according to the equipment, was working fine. He said he had no idea why the light came on but he wouldn't recommend me spending a lot of money to figure it out. So I didn't. That was right when I got the car and it has been, as I say, driven almost 25,000 miles since then with no engine problems. As you can see, I didn't take pictures of it right out of the car wash. I photographed it in my driveway. This is what the car looks like. I am including the ski/snowboard rack because my new car has one already. ALSO, on the photograph of the rear of the car, there is a white spot on the trunk. That is a reflection. There is nothing wrong with the paint there. If there are other areas in the photographs where there are reflections and you have questions, please ask them. The paint job and clear coat are, with a few very small exceptions, in very good shape. I make no representations or warranties about the condition but I'm happy for you to come test drive it if you want. I can only tell you honestly what my experience has been with the car and it was a great purchase and now it is time for me to get a bigger car with more room. I put 25,000 miles on it in about a year so you know it served me well. One side NOTE: It says on the description that there is a sunroof. There is NO SUNROOF. I don't know why it says that. Only other thing I can think of is that the emergency brake doesn't work. It is an automatic, so in park I have never had it slip at all, but with these older VWs the emergency brake sometimes gets jammed and I had them disconnect it. I am also offering it for sale locally (not in advertising, but to a few friends) so I reserve the right to end the auction early if it is sold to one of them. I wouldn't sell it so someone I know unless as far as I know, the car was in very good shape.
