Vehicle Detail
1966 oldsmobile toronado, way to good for just a parts car but needs work to get back on the road. ---DETAILED INFO TO FOLLOW--please check back Up for auction is my 1966 olds toronado. The story first, I bought this a few weeks ago wanting a project for the winter. After I got it, I told a friend about it and she finally decided to sell me her Mustang that I have been trying to buy from her for years. I got the car and now as much as I like these first toronado’s I no longer am going to fix it up so my loss is your gain. I will try to describe the car as the best I know it.—please read carefully-- The body- very good overall, has been repainted with minor rust repairs, you can see a few bubbles at the rear pass wheel well , etc. trunk lid has a few small holes along edge. Drivers door edge is great, pass door edge is not perfect but an easy fix. Door mouldings are in trunk. Fender well lips are very nice. The worst part of the body is the floor seam under the gas pedal that runs from left to right- it is rusted out about 2” to 7” wide along most of the edge. Would not be hard to fix. Floor rust was probably from the windshield leaking and not being fixed correctly. If the windshield comes out I would expect some rust as typical of GM’s of the era.Rest of floor is good as well as the trunk floor.carpet is bad under the floormat. Bumpers are pretty good but not perfect, front has a scrape and rear has light surface rust, would clean well. Wheel mouldings are pretty good. Headlights are missing the vacuum hoses, I was going to change the system over from vacuum. Grill is great.it has a small amount of rust under the battery. –interior—black vinal seats are pretty good with a couple of split seams. Not bad.door panels are good but I think they came from a car with a deluxe interior because there are no door handles for the rear seat people but they look nice. Pass door needs parts for the window regulator to work. Drivers door is fine. Dash panel should be swapped out with the extra one in the trunk, the gas gauge is broken and it would be easier to swap it out. Headliner is gone but is available on ebay, trim pieces are in trunk. –Drivetrain— starts ok, it has a weak battery and needs a good carb adjustment and tuneup from sitting, sounds nice at higher RPM. trans seems to shift well. The engine does not smoke and does not leak bad like others do, one driveshaft looks newer, front end seems pretty tight. Person I bought it from said he has driven it on the road a bit before storing it. Brakes are hard, might have a stuck wheel cylinder. Overall the car is in pretty good shape with a lot of little things that need fixing to get on the road again. All of the big expensive items are good which is why I bought the car in the first place. I have done restorations in the past and look for a good foundation to start with. this would be a perfect car for a beginner to learn on. These cars are way underappreaciated in the market and are a good buy right now but I don’t think it will stay that way forever. I have tried to describe the car as the best I know it with out just telling you just the great things of the car like everyone else does, it is a nice car with tons of potential. Any questions please ask. I can store the car for 30 days if paid for and I might be able to help with delivery along the I-84,91 or route 8 corridor. CAR IS SOLD WITH A STATE OF CT. BILL OF SALE.- mileage is approximate-- true mileage is unknown, shows 105,000 if you want to see it please let me know, very easy to get to, right off route-4 and route-8.
