Little Bit Of History: 280 SL (December, 1967-March, 1971) The 2.8 liter 280 SL was introduced in 1967 and continued production largely unchanged through 1971 when the W 113 was replaced by the entirely new, and substantially heavier, R 107 350 SL/450 SL. Most 280 SL cars built for the U.S. market were equipped with automatic transmission. Manual transmission cars came with either a 4-speed transmission or the super rare ZF-5 speed. The ZF 5 speed is very rare sought after by American collectors. In the European market manual transmission cars were still dominant. 23,885 280 SLs were produced, of which 12,927 units went to the USA and 5,754 to other countries outside of Germany. (Please see pictures). · Welding dots are still visible on the hood and trunk lid. · Production number 4364. · The car runs and drives very nice, still needs some small misc parts such as nozzle for the windshield wipers, vdo water bottle, wipers, cap for the coolant tank... · Power steering works good · Wood around windshield was removed and replaced by leather piece but the rest is totally presentable. (Est. repair $200) · Windows roll up and down smoothly. · All lights work. · Horn, turn signals everything works as it should. · All hoses and belts are in great shape not dried out like you would expect. · Service is up to date. The shipping to Europe from Florida would cost from $ 800.00 – $1100.00 depending where you want the car. Ports like Rotterdam or Amsterdam are the cheapest (about $800.00) and than as you go along the coast the price goes up. France, England, Spain… etc are about $950.00 give or take few dollars for insurance which depends on a final value of the car. Shipping is paid once you get the car.
