Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1955 Studebaker Commander – Model 16G8 Deluxe 2-Door Coupe, 5 passenger The Commander was the mid range model offered this year. The base model was a Champion while the President was the top of the line. The Commander cost $1,989.00 + options and weighed in at 3,065 lbs. There were only 6,975 of this particular example sold in 1955 which was built at the Los Angeles assembly plant, Body No. 16G8-C3 4956 and Serial No. 8846734. This car is being liquidated from an estate and is priced very well. A great opportunity to own this really cool looking Studebaker “Mild Custom”. The frame is in excellent shape and very solid. The rockers are in great condition, the passenger rear floor board was damaged at some point due to a blown u-joint which caved in that section of the floor. On the passenger side, two floor patches were installed at some point as well, not sure as to why this was given how solid everything else is. Underneath the amateur paint job is a pretty solid body. Some body work has been performed; rockers, fenders and quarters all appear to be original and nice with minor waves due to amateur prep job. The door handles have been removed and filled along with the fender vents. Under the hood sits a 350ci GM motor mated to a TH 350 automatic transmission. Block casting number is 3970014. This car does run and drive however it is in need of some service, repairs and restoration. Some issues that would need immediate attention would be the brake system (there was a slight pedal when the car first came in however since then the pedal goes directly to the floor and will not stop) and the steering (steering box that was installed was not mounted properly to the frame). The entire car should be gone through and sorted out prior to hitting the open road as it is 55 years old and has been sitting for some time. The Studebaker is being sold As-Is and would need to be towed away. The Wisconsin title is clean and clear. Good luck with the auction and don’t miss out on this great opportunity!
