Vehicle Detail

This a sale of two TVR2500M's, both are 1977 models. The first (Silver) 2500 is a regular TR6-based car with some body modifications. Some say the changes are tasteful. This car's engine was originally the low compression US-spec. I rebuilt the head and milled it down for approximately 9.5:1 CR. I also installed a set of Weber carbs (still have the original Strombergs). This car runs good, sounds great like a straight 6 should, and I drive it around town as it is tagged, etc. Cool little car. It does however have many of the issues that you would expect from a 33 year old British sports car. Previous owners were problematic with care. If interested, email me and I can describe the vehicle(s) in detail. I am honest and will describe the condition of the vehicles as best I can. The second car may be the more the interesting one - even though it is not running. This is a rolling chassis with a 302 Ford and an M10, 4-speed transmission installed. Bodywork is the original 2500M but the car has been partially dissassembled. Items like the hood, doors and nose and tail sections of the original 2500 are intact. The second car also has the original TVR "T-hole" mags. This vehicle does not run and is in rough shape but is a very good start on a V8 TVR. The second car could used as a parts donor for the first or as a start on a separate car. We have considered making a track car or a one-off old school British race sports car (think Kougar here). If you are familiar with TVR's you can imagine what a V8 in a 2500 would be like. This is basically what is known as a TVR "Tuscan" and is an inexpensive AC Cobra. The Tuscan's and AC Cobra's competed in the late 60's. The TVR weighs about 1,900 lbs and therefore is quite fast with even moderate horsepower. A 300HP TVR would be, shall we say, exciting. What sets the TVR apart from some kit cars is that it is a legitamate brand. These are rare as only about 900 were made and brought into the US. The cars are sold as is and the buyer will need to make arrangements for transporting the vehicles. The cars are also listed locally and through other venues, therefore I may end the auction early. Serious bidders only. Feel free to email me with any questions. I am selling the cars due to a recent complete rotator cuff tear and subsequent surgery that didn't fix the injury. I'm done tinkering on cars for some time. On Jan-05-11 at 07:47:43 PST, seller added the following information: People have asked about the specifics of the issues with the gray car. These are the two main issues that I would address if I were keeping the car, and the order in which I would do them: The wiring is old and specifically all the connectors are old. The original fuse block on the firewall is a bad design as it is made of a hard rubber with contacts pressed-in, not soldered. Over time the contacts in the block have become problematic. That combined with the old block connectors out on the wiring harness makes for electrical gremlins. A previous owner decided to run some parallel lines to specific systems (not really the way to fix an old wiring harness). Basically, the wiring and connectors need to be systematically inspected, cleaned and replaced if necessary. Old British cars are reliable as long as you don't try to limp-along on old systems. The engine oil pressure starts at 50-60 pounds and within 20 minutes has come down to 20 pounds where it stays at road speed. Pressure does go up and down with revs. This could be an old gauge but it also could be that the bottom-end bearing clearance is allowing pressure to drop. I have seen old TR6's run for years like this but it is still something I was going to address eventually. If it is the bottom end bearings, these can be replaced with the engine in the car from the bottom. On Jan-07-11 at 06:17:47 PST, seller added the following information: I should have added this: The second (project) car does not have a title. I can furnish a noterized bill of sale for it. The gray, 6-cylinder car has a clear title. Some folks have asked to reveal the reserve and I understand however, I typically do not do that for auctions. I will say that I have lowered the reserve as of yesterday. Thanks.
