Vehicle Detail

PLEASE read entire description so that you understand exactly what you are bidding on and so that there will be no surprises when you are the sucessful bidder. This is a 1948 Chevrolet Stylemaster 2 Dr Town Sedan. This is the last year that Chevrolet made the bigger "Gangster-Style" cars with the big back seats and the rounded fenders. The car has the original 216 6 cyl engine and 3 speed on the column transmission. The body, the chrome and the stainless steel are all in exceptional condition. The paint is fair. There is one picture that shows what the paint can look like with a little elbow grease and some high quality wax. There is some pitting on the passenger side hood. The rest of the paint is in fairly good shape with very few dents and some scratches. The 216 CI 6 cylinder does run (I promise). However, either the transmission or the rear end is locked up. I cannibalized the engine for a fuel pump, so it will need to be replaced. This car has the original 6 volt system. The sad story (for me), is that I had purchased a Fatman Fabrications Mustang II IFS (Independent Front Suspension) for this vehicle with the intention of turning it into a street rod including a new T350 trans and a new rearend. When the rearend or trans went out, I went ahead and starting removing the rearend. All of the bolts and the leaf springs were tossed because I intended to buy conversion kits that included new parts. Someone broke into the car and stole the IFS. Since that happened, I have lost my interest. The car is now sitting on it's springs and the rear end is only being held on by the e-brake cables. However for transportation purposes, the rear end could be secured. I have Title from Washington State. I also started to register the car in California, so I also have the paperwork for that.
