Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1992 Dodge Dakota Sport. My father purchased this new, and I purchased it from him 2 years ago. It is a 4 cylinder 2.5L engine. It only has about 117,500 miles on it. It also has rear wheel drive, 5 speed transmission and air conditioning. It has been well maintained. Since I’ve owned it I have had the timing belt replaced, new heavy duty shocks and regular oil changes. I also had a wheel bearing replaced and the other wheel bearing repacked with fresh grease (mechanic said it did not need replacing). The tires, battery and brakes were replaced during the past three years (less than 20K miles ago). It is not my daily driver but I drive it work once or twice a week and on weekends. It is a good running truck. The only reason I am selling it is the wife can’t drive a standard transmission, and I need an extended cab or 4 door truck to fit the kids. What is wrong with it? The paint is peeling; apparently Dodge had an issue with primer. The emergency brake handle broke and was replaced with a carabiner (everything still functions fine). The gas gauge fluctuates; however, the warning light still functions fine – I just fill up every 225 miles before the light even comes on. There is an oil leak, and I would approximate about a quart every 1500 miles. And there is an occasion squeal from the AC compressor area, which may simply be a worn belt – the AC still blows ice cold. There is also a dent in the front, near the passenger side headlight (see pictures). I also can email a video of it running. The blue book value is $1,595 (KBB fair condition). I am selling it for much less. Let’s face it; it’s cheaper than a riding mower. I want to make room for the new truck and don’t want to carry the insurance for longer than I have to. It’s a great price and shouldn’t last. I will drive it a reasonable distance to transfer to the new owner and/or help with shipping. Please be aware – you are not bidding for a test drive. You are bidding for a purchase. Should you wish to see the truck beforehand do not hesitate to contact me and we can set it up. Please email any questions. The vehicle is being sold “as-is” – no warranty is expressed or implied. Good luck and thanks for looking! On Dec-23-10 at 05:08:19 PST, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention, the truck also comes with a loadhandler unloading system (http://www.loadhandler.com/). I used this for leaves in the fall - makes unloading them (as well as mulch) a lot easier! See their website for more info.
