British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate included with sale - see photos Vehicle was ground-up restored in 1998. There are approximately 18,000 miles on the mini since the restore in 1998. During the restoration, the steering wheel was changed to Right-hand drive for a more authentic British feel. The mini was set up for vintage racing as well as daily driving, although it has never been raced. The roll bar has a removable brace bar (shown installed in photos) that holds the harness shoulder straps. When the bar is removed (2 bolts on each end), the rear seat is usable. In 2003 the 998cc engine was replaced with the current 1275cc engine. The engine has been completely professionally re-built earlier this year. The re-build included line-boring the crank case, re-boring the cylinders, installing and machining new valve busings, re-grinding all crankshaft bearing surfaces, balancing the crankshaft, and replacing pistons/rings and all bushings. There is approx. 200 miles on the vehicle since the re-build. The mini runs great and starts very easily. The paint and body is in very good shape, except for some localized defects which are shown at the end of the picasa photo gallery.
