Up for sale by owner is a 1996 Volvo 850 with some good and some not so good aspects. The good:New tires all the way aroundNew struts all the way aroundNew brake padsNew spark plugsNew driver's side hub and knuckleNew sway bar linksNew exhaust manifoldEngine runs well, makes no funny noises, and gets approx. 21 mpg (approx. same as new from factory) The not so good:The driver's side fender has been crumpled from the driver's side wheel coming off - this is also why the hub and knuckle are brand new on this sideThree American Racing wheels with a factory steel wheel for a fourthRear passenger quarter-panel scraped from being sideswiped by a fire hydrant (it jumped out of nowhere!)Scratched paint on the roof from using a snow shovel to remove snowFaded paintExterior trim pieces falling offSlight oil leak. I measured at approx. 1/8-1/4 of a quart lost between oil changes (approx every three months)Stained carpets/seatsSpeakers crackle - the stereo works, so I'm guessing a speaker or two are popped The bottom line. This car is ugly, there's no way around it. But, it runs well and can get you from point A to point B. If you need cheap transportation, this is it. If you need a show car, I hope you're not still reading. This car is great for a student or your 16 year old's first car.
