Vehicle Detail
1965 International Harvester Scout 80 Super Clean Scout – Been in Arizona for 95% of its life (spent a couple of years in Southern California!). THIS TRUCK HAS NEVER SEEN SNOW!! **Bidders: I’ve uploaded a video to You Tube that provides a walk around of this vehicle with an audio description. Please see listing on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9xcAayh6cE Up for auction is this rare, very clean 1965 Scout 80 with its original 4 cylinder 152 Cu. In with a 3 seed all-wheel drive manual transmission. It was originally owned by a man in Chandler AZ, and only spent a couple of years in California where it got its awesome blue paint job. I purchased the Scout last year and brought it back to Phoenix. In April of 2010, I began a mechanical overhaul to make it run as great as it looks. Here’s a list of what’s I’ve done or had done: · New water pump, alternator, starter, fuel pump, plugs & wires. · New carburetor – had it jetted for up to 4000’. · New clutch – from master to slave to clutch. · Rebuilt drive train – transmission, transfer case, differential. · Brake job done in April 2010. · New carpet installed - made and modeled for the Scout. · Recently vinyl upholstered original rear seat. · Installed iPod amplifier system – Jensen 4 channel 400 watt with matching speakers and 10” subwoofer in a custom cabinet. (Umm…it really kicks! iPod not included) · Many more “small” repairs/upgrades such as; rebuilt speedometer, gas lines, fuel selector, brake job, modified bumper hitch and wiring, NOS taillights, decorative chrome bolts for top. Now that I've completed most of the mechanical restoration, this Scout runs excellent! I've also been restoring small original IHC things as I find them - put original side mirrors on both sides and an original rear view mirror. The tires are in excellent condition with plenty of tread. I’ve kept it in my garage and drove it very little this summer. The odometer says “07958”, so I’m guessing it has 107,958 miles on it. I had a compression test done and it’s 100% on all 4 cylinders. I have receipts for all the work I’ve had done. The original hard top was painted to match the truck and is included in sale (see picture). For Disclosure: This is an old vehicle, so it has its quirks: The fuel pump has a hard time pulling from the passenger side fuel tank. To attempt to fix this I put a new line in but it’s too large. There are no dents on the body, but many little surface scratches - nothing major. I wanted to do a complete re-wire because the backing lights aren’t working and to clean up the loose wire under the hood. I also wanted to put an original vacuum fuel pump in so I could use the original wipers (which I have, and are included in sale). The previous owner removed the heater box and fan and I’ve not been able to find a replacement for this model. I’ve also been on the hunt for a spare tire carrier. There are lots of little leaks that I’ve been chasing down, but nothing major. **Please read listing before bidding and feel free to email me with any questions before auction end. I will be happy to respond as quickly as possible.** Early congratulations to the winner of this auction. Be prepared for a lot of attention where ever you go! Happy Scouting!
