Mechanic's Special or Part it out Here I have for sale my Reliable 2000 Oldsmobile Alero. This car has served me well for over a year and I have traveled thousands of miles in it. Up until just recently I started having problems with it mechanically and I have decided to buy a new car. My goal in selling this car is to be incredibly honest of its condition ( which cosmetically is pretty poor ) and I have listed below what needs to be done if you plan on fixing it Cosmetically ------------------- The front bumper cover is cracked and hood has dents in it from snow drifts Dings and dents in right and left drivers side doors The car originally had manual windows and the previous owner decided to install an aftermarket conversion to power windows. This aftermarket part would cause the regulator to stick and leave the window wide open. I removed that part myself put I could not put the door panel back together properly and it is missing a part. Door panel is on just looks bad :( Drivers side window speaker missing Car has been smoked in. Missing right front and rear hubcaps I had stupidly super glued a GPS mount to the center dashboard Mechanically ------------------- Headlights need to be adjusted Brakes are fine but rotors should be replaced in the future MAJOR REASON FOR SELLING - Last week I was driving this car down a major highway in PA and the car just coasted and died with a quarter tank of gas in it. Pulled off to the side of the road and tried to start it up....no good. As a hunch walked 3 miles to get gas and tried again, worked perfectly. THE NEXT DAY with 3 quarters of a tank of gas car does it again only when I pull off to the side it starts back up after 2 tries. After these events the car was running like normal except for the noticeable difference of power. Going uphill It does not want to go over 15mph but on flat road no problem. The Good ----------------- TRACTION CONTROL ( Excellent for the winter ) as well as fog lights POWER STEERING ICE COLD A/C VERY HOT HEATER CD-PLAYER/ CASSETTE and RADIO ABS Electronic traction control via engine management Space-saver steel rim internal spare wheel Strut front suspension with stabilizer bar independent with coil springs , multi-link rear suspension with stabilizer bar independent with coil springs.
