Our winters here tend to be either really bad, or minimal. no grey areas. last year, the Washington DC area was hit with that huge blizzard that took a toll on everyone. i am proud to say that even once the roads were operable by large SUV's, i was the only one getting around aside from my neighbor who has a subaru outback. the AWD system, the mirror depfrosters, (Seat Warmers!) and slight raised body of the forester all helped me to make it back and fourth to school and work. My Forester is still in great condition and has no problems. im at 158,000 miles! If you are looking for a dependable, safe, fun, and affordable car this is the one for you! This car is an absolute beast, I took it offroading, drove it in heavy Michigan snow, rain and mud. The Subie never lost a step, started on a dime and pumped AC or heat quickly. Only problems I had was with the overhead clock (busted), the seats aren't comfortable (who cares) and I replaced the stock tires with Kelly all terrains. 104K miles so far. Red Forester S. How long have you owned this vehicle?: 2 to 3 yrs 3. Over seven years, just turned 155,000 miles and it runs like the day I got it. Haven't even had to replace the battery yet. This car handles weather better than anything I've ever driven. I intend to get to 250,000 miles on this one, but after that I'm going to buy another Forester. Really amazing car. It is so simple; but, the mechanism which you would probably never notice is working very hard to take care of you – everyday, anytime. The more hazardous the road conditions become, this vehicle along with other Subaru models will noticeably run better and stable than most of other vehicles. Boxer engine with low center of gravity makes the handling more responsive and maneuverability better. With regular maintenance and check, reliability is just outstanding and never got a single mechanical trouble. As the next generation model has been introduced, this relatively small size is in turn just perfect fit for our family. Gas mileage and wind noise should be improved in the latest model. Looking forward to driving a new boxer diesel model. Cosmetic parts (rubbers, plastics, and paint) have started to be deteriorated after seven years and 95,000 miles driving in Southern climate/weather. As AWD is always working behind the scene, you do not have to change any setting while driving. That is the best feature of this vehicle. It is so natural that you would probably never notice. However, once you run into a hazardous road condition, it instantly helps you a lot. Torrential downpour, dirt or slippery road including light snow, since the company has been established in the cold region in Japan, they take the safety driving very seriously, and build superb vehicles which you will trust in the long run.
