Vehicle Detail
This 1986 Aston-Martin Lagonda is a two-owner, very clean, very low mileage, accident-free car that was meticulously restored by its current owner and was repainted an elegant midnight blue. It has always been garaged in a smoke-free environment and has never been driven in the rain or with smokers on board. It drives very well for a large vehicle and turns heads wherever it goes. It is chassis 494 out of 645 ever produced and originally sold for $150,000. It is a left-hand (US) drive Series 3 car with the three-CRT dashboard and a voice announcement system. It is powered by a fuel-injected 5341 ccm (325.91 cubic inch) Aston-Martin V8 hand-built at the factory by Don Osborne. Its interior features beige Connolly leather hides in excellent condition, Wilton carpeting and English burr walnut veneer. The Lagonda was entirely hand-finished by skilled Aston-Martin craftsmen. Complete Lagonda manuals and service history documentation are available. These are essential for maintaining the vehicle, as electrical schematics varied widely. It was recently tuned up. Tire condition is excellent. It has surprisingly low emissions on its smog check. During the restoration, much of the wiring has been replaced and upgraded. A new exhaust system was installed, as was a manual quick-release system was installed for both fuel fill doors (one on either side of the vehicle). The original tire deck covering under the carpet was replaced, as was all the headliner. A new Kenwood stereo system and speakers were added. A trickle-charger for the battery was installed. The three CRTs are functional. Cold weather seems to affect the center CRT, which occasionally double images. The CRT system was fully repaired during the restoration. The automatic door lock system does not currently operate. Some of the wood veneer has small cracks near the surface (see photos). The vehicle has been maintained in the dry Northern Nevada desert air for the past six years. The engine has been tuned for high altitude. After spending several years on the restoration, it is difficult to see this striking vehicle depart from the collection, but there is no longer sufficient space to store it inside. I hope this vehicle will go to a caring home or museum capable of maintaining this rare piece of automotive history.
