Vehicle Detail

1967 VW Split Window Bus, 11 window, Standard Model relisting due to scammer, Additional Pics HERE http://www.performanceflatforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=1888 NO MOTOR with the sale, unless you contact me and make arrangments. I have access to a couple of good running ones here in town I could install for a nominal fee. But only at the request of the winning bidder. Very solid VW bus, with very little rust or body damage. Rust is only in a couple of places, very little and no major rot. wheel wells are original, never hacked like most buses you find. doglegs are original, nose is original, well just about everything is original VW metal that came on the bus. no hacks or major repairs. Drivers side rocker, behind drivers door does have an area of rust I found, maybe 6 inches high and 12 inches long, it had been covered up with fiberglass from previos owner. I have complete, brand new rocker from Wolfsburg West that needs to be installed. it is the full length replacement piece and is 8 inches high. Passenger side rocker, not really rusted but it has been damaged, I do have the replacment piece needed, again brand new from Wolfsburg West, inner and outer rocker for under the cargo doors. behind the cargo doors and between the rear passenger fender well is a very small spot of rust, I do have that repair section needed, from Wolfsburg West. Battery tray area is the only real rotted out area for this bus. Floors are very solid, in cab area and in cargo area. All floors are original, with only surface rust and no holes or rotting. very solid and pretty clean for the age of this bus. Under the bus is very solid, I dont know of any rust, pics will show it is pretty clean and no worries there. Roof of bus is smooth as can be, no dents or damage, window sills are solid and no rust there either. drip rails are solid, except where the previous owner did some wierd cuts and repairs over the rear door for some hinges or something, it isnt bad or noticable untill you look for it, an easy fix. Doors are pretty solid thru out, drivers door higes were hacked and welded by previous owner, however door opens and closes fine, no problems, only cosmetic. Passenger side door has been repaired, a small section about 3in. by 15 in. then skimmed with bondo. probably the only real bondo on the bus. Cargo doors are solid, rear door is solid. Transaxle is a "freeway flier" out of a type 3 VW, runs great, I have never had any problems with it. Shifts fine, never pops out of any gears and gets the bus moving nicely in town or on the highway. easily cruises 75mph. I installed some offset springplates for this swap, eliminating the stock reduction gear boxes. If you like the stock height of the buses then this could be easily reversed. no welding or cutting required. you could go lower or higher while using the springplates also. it does have type 3 drums on the rear, with 4 to 5 lug wheel adaptors Front suspension is stock beam, with 3 1/2 in drop/flipped spindles. again this could be replaced with stock spindles easily if you desire the stock height. Brakes were fine untill recently, front passenger wheel slave cylinder developed a leak. I have a seal kit or you can buy a new cylinder and install it. Shoes up front are fine but are getting thin, could be replaced soon. Rear shoes are about a year old, still in great condition. I did install a 1972 VW bus master cylinder, the original 67 master went out and is about $250, this swap only cost around $50 and works great. it still has the dual reservoir, doesnt leak and is functioning great. All electrical on this bus is original, never cut or hacked and works great. all lights, blinkers, horn etc... work with no problems. with the exception of the cab light in the cargo area, I never had the time to try to figure out why, I know the switch for it on the steering column is broke, maybe why it does not work. it never bothered me enough to try to fix it. All windows with the exception of one of the front windshields are original. All pop out side windows are in good shape, frames are solid and work fine. the one right behind the drivers door does need some attention, the pop out hinge mounting area is pretty much gone, not from rust but from fatigue or just weak metal. easy fix if you have a welder or access to one. but it does open and close, it is a lil tighter then the other pop outs and does require some muscle to get it to close properly. All rubber and seals on the popouts is in great condition. Door windows are original as well, the felt and seals are pretty much gone, need replaced. Along with pretty much every door rubber needs to be replaced. they have all pretty much rotted away and are missing. Dash is original, never been cut, and is in great shape. Steering wheel is showing lots of cracks, typical for a vehicle of this age. Interior, front seats are not bad, covered with some homemade covers, foam needs to be replaced for a more comfortable ride. Rear seat is from a Baywindow with its original cover and not in bad shape. It is a full length bench, it fits but not really made for this bus. Middle seat is missing. I do have a "jumpseat" that fits behind the driver. All door panels are homemade. Missing the bulkhead panel that fits behind the front seats. Floors are solid, covered in the original rubber mats, front one is in pretty good shape, but is starting to crack and dry rot a lil bit. still looks fine. cargo are mat is in pretty good shape. Headliner is not bad but does have some rips towards the rear of the bus. some is peeling off around the windows and such. Tires, Front tires are almost new, 185/65. the rears need to be replaced. I have used 185/65 or 165's both fit no problem. Rims are all original 14 in, hubcaps do have some dents and dings, lil rust.
