Vehicle Detail
Selling my 68 Dodge Charger R/T clone that I bought from the third owner in 1988. The car was my daily driver until 1991 when I stored the car. I have kept the car running so that I could drive it in and out of the trailer that I store it in but the car would have to be trailered when picked up because the tranny slips and the tires are decades old. Car was originally from California but has spent almost all of its life in Az. Originally a 318 car that was swapped to a 440/727 car in the mid 80's by the guy I bought the car from (have alot of recipts). Front K member and tortion bars are big block units, I don't know about rear leaf springs. Options are P/S, P/B, A/C, B5 blue in and out. Engine has always started and run perfectly, last redone with a TRW master kit and a slightly more than stock cam, Carter carb, Mallory dist. (have orig.). Trans was redone to stock spec with a shift kit but it does slip now. Posi unit was installed in the rear (I think around 3.73). I swapped to disk brakes in the front, they came off of a Mid 70's cop car (have all original stuff). Main vacuum from intake is plugged because brake booster leaks vacuum very bad but the last time (about 4 years ago) I tried the headlight doors they worked. Body is in pretty good shape but does have some areas of rust. Trunk pan needs replaced but car comes with new parts from the paddock. Area all around rear window is rusted trough as seen in pictures. Small area in front of L/R wheel needs work. Roof is surface rust from the vinyl top the car used to have, I have all of the roof and window moldings that are in excellent shape (drip rail moldings are ruough but repairable and comes with one extra) they are just not on the car. I tried to get some photos of the underside of the car but it is too low (2" in back and about 3" up front); besides the trunk pan the underside of the car is in good shape with very little rust (Arizona car). Interior is all original except the drivers seat that was redone poorly. I have a piece of the build sheet that I found when I redid the carpet. New water pump as of 11/08/10. This is a complete car, all the parts are there plus some extras, thumbwheel radio, hood turn signals, wingshield washer fluid tank and pump, three speed wiper motor, master cylider, front bumperetes... The car is missing the fender tag and auction does not include the battery. A few things are not acurate to a 68, air cleaner, engine color, wheels, but otherwise a very complete running driving car. $500 due at end of auction with balance due within 2 weeks. Car is for sale locally so I do reserve the right to end auction early. I am flexable with arrangements to get the car, I could store the car for a short time if needed and or help load/transport the car but details will need to be worked out before end of auction. I will e-mail my phone # to any interested actual bidders so I can give you as much info as possible; since I have owned the car for 22 years I know every nut and bolt. No trades. I do not need to sell this I just want the money to start another project so no lowballers please. Anyone who has restored a car will tell you to buy the most complete stater car that you can, because it will save big money in the end; that is what this car is. Thanks for looking, Kirk Sorry it took so long for the pictures of the underside but there they are.
