1966 Mustang 2+2 Fastback - Shelby GT 350 Clone - Vintage Race Ready! Here is an absolutely eye-catching, 1966 Mustang 2+2 Fastback Shelby GT 350 clone that was purchased some years ago in California by a prominent west coast restorer and hot rod builder and restored for his own personal use! He decided to set it up for SCCA B Production racing and spared no expense in building his dream car! He raced it several times at Willow Springs in California and it is also very streetable. He subsequently became involved in a nasty divorce and relocated to Arizona where he decided it was time to let go of his baby, so his loss is your gain! This car looks very vintage and gets more looks and respect than any car I've ever owned! The glove box is even signed by Carroll Shelby! The body on this little Mustang is absolutely gorgeous and super straight! The body is rock solid and very rust free as you would expect a car of this caliber to be! In the interest of full disclosure, upon close inspection underneath, I believe that the lower rear quarters have been repaired but the work was very professional so it's hard to tell for sure. There are no obvious repairs or patches of any kind and no attempts to hide or cover anything up. All the other sheet metal appears to be original to this car. The body is super straight and there doesn't appear to be any accident history. It is finished in a rich Wimbledon White with vintage Shelby race car paint scheme and it looks fabulous as my photos show! The paint was very well done and only shows the normal stone chips associated with a car that has been raced a few times and enjoyed on the street! This is definitely a classic Mustang that can be driven and enjoyed and would place very well at any car show! The chrome is all new and gorgeous or very nice original. The window trim is highly polished and other than a couple tiny imperfections, it is like new. The glass is all in great condition and the windshield is brand new.. The engine compartment is nicely detailed and exceptionally sharp! The interior has been largely redone in a Black color scheme and is in very nice condition. It has racing bucket seats and 5 point seat belts and other than one small hole, they are in great shape. The full roll cage is SCCA approved and is really not that uncomfortable to use on the street! The door panels and armrests are nice and the carpeting is new. The headliner and dash pad are like new! The factory gauges were replaced by the Autometer gauges and they all work as they should. The gauges are clean and bright and the interior chrome is beautiful! The wipers do work as well as the courtesy lights and all the running lights. The heater is in place but not currently hooked up. This is an exceptionally sharp and appealing interior! Mechanically, this little Mustang is in excellent condition and is easily one of the nicest running, tightest driving and all around, "most fun" Mustangs or Muscle cars that I have ever driven and it's FAST! The original restorer built the car for himself as a keeper and was very meticulous and exacting in everything that he did and this is very evident in the way it looks, runs and drives! I don't have all the records and particulars of the engine or drive train as the ex-wife got to them and threw them away! The 302 V8 engine has been totally rebuilt and the horsepower was reportedly rated at 380 HP. The transmission is a G Force T-5 that shifts smooth and tight as it should and the clutch is new. The exhaust is like new and includes dual exhaust with headers and racing mufflers with side outlets for that throaty muscle car sound we all love! It has 4-wheel disc brakes that help it "stop on a dime" and the rear end is extra heavy duty with high performance axles. The suspension is virtually totally rebuilt with new shocks, bushings, heavy duty sway bar, etc. As well as being race ready, I'm confident that this Classic Mustang could be driven home or anywhere you wanted to take it, with no problem and what a FUN trip it would be!
