Vehicle Detail
I am offering for sale a completely frame off restoration of a 1950 Willys CJ3A. In addition to the vehicle I am including a new from the supplier T-90 transmission with throwout bearing kit. The transmission by itself is a $700 value. I am going to begin a new project and need to make room in the shop as well as free up a few restoration dollars. Please review the attached photographs and the listings below for the features of this Willys. It is painted Luzon Red with Universal Beige trim. The vehicle is currently licensed and inspected. I have occasionally been driving this 3A around town and have enjoyed it tremendously as well as all the attention it draws especially when folks hear that Autolite horn! But as I mentioned, it is time to move on to the next project. Also included are all printed reference materials used during the restoration as well as an original 1950 paint chip chart. You can view the rescue and restoration of this vehicle at http://gallery.me.com/jstephen1h#100049. First let me mention the few negatives. There is a leak from the front of the transmission drive shaft cover which is due to the poor job the felt gasket does of sealing the shaft. This is common with the T-90. Second, the hood is not as sleek as a brand new hood, showing small pits from past corrosion. The corrosion has been removed but I wanted to keep the Willys bondo free so I left the hood original. It is not all that noticeable as you can see from the photos but I wanted to mention it in the description. The last is an occasional rattle in the throwout bearing which is overcome by slightly depressing and releasing the clutch. Now for the positives...There is NO rust on this vehicle. I have sandblasted, wire brushed, rust proof treated and used rust inhibiting primer and paint on the entire vehicle. It is currently inspected, licensed and registered in Texas with a "classic vehicle" license. The engine has been professionally rebuilt by a local engine shop familiar with the L134 and resleeved to factory original clearances. About the only thing not restored to factory specifications were the seat belts and the battery. Rebuilt: Original to the vehicle from the factory, the engine was professionally completely rebuilt with valves installed for unleaded fuel, T-90 transmission, clutch, transfer case, frame, Drawtite hitch, skid plate, front and rear differentials, hubs, brake drums, Ross steering, vacuum windshield wiper, manual windshield wiper, carburetor, distributor, radiator, drive shafts, oil bath air filter, oil filter, starter, heat riser, lockout hubs, Autolite horn, original front seat. The rear seat has been converted to the correct CJ3A 4" cushioned full back rear seat from a CJ5A seat by modifying the seat legs to match the correct CJ3A rear seat, original front seat springs, original data plates. The body was totally rebuilt with new channeling and metal where necessary to remove any rusted areas. As I said, NO rust remains anywhere. The dash and firewall were replaced from another 3A tub to correct the extraneous holes that the POs had drilled, etc. I probably have left out a few rebuilt items but review the photos and the website please... New: All new electrical wiring harness from Walcks, fuel/vacuum pump, 6 volt generator, 6 volt regulator, red top Optima 6 volt battery in a new Willard replica case, Signal Stat 900 turn signal switch, master brake cylinder, brakes, brake cylinders, parking/emergency brake, head lamps, rear bumper, front bumper, all suspension, springs, shocks and associated hardware, all instruments in panel, new steering wheel, new windshield glass and gaskets, new hardware, rubber and gaskets throughout the vehicle, new mirrors, new vintage 6.50 x 16 tires, completely new exhaust system, new side steps are NOS original diamond pattern shipped from Australia (the mythical steps found in a barrel), seat covers, seat cushions on rear seat, shifter knobs, shifter boots, fuel tank and sender, rear NACO tail lights, tail gate, new channeling, rear floor and wheel well covers. Again, I probably have left out a few items but clearly I have put much more into this vehicle than I will ever get back, but I have enjoyed every minute of it... This is for pickup only and a $1000 deposit is required through Paypal within 48 hours of the end of the auction. Full payment by Paypal, certified check or money order is required within 10 days of the end of the auction. I have been honest in the description and will be glad to answer any questions you may have. Thanks for looking and good luck!
