Selling my treasured 1972 280SEL 4.5 long wheel base. Here's your chance to have the look of the fabled 6.3 air ride without the air suspension heartache. It is finished in Anthracite on black with a full black leather interior. It has a sunroof and the Becker Europa still plays beautifully. The power antennae still works too along with the door buzzer if you forget to fasten your seat belts. The paint is decent for it's age but is clear coat checked in some spots. The lip by the sunroof has some surface rust(see photo). The lower trunk well on the right side has a hole the size of a baseball(see photo). Both of these items are an easy repair. The Classic Center still stocks these pieces as they are typical repairs for a car of this vintage. It starts up each and every time and does not run hot at all. I have left it sitting for months and it has rewarded me each time I went to drive it. It always puts a smile on my face as I drive this sedan and get thumbs up across the board. The styling is timeless but I must go a little more modern. I have replaced my old friend with a 500SEL that I inherited. So, the time has come to pass the ownership torch to another deserving party. Here are your answers. The color combination is the original combination from 1972. The leather interior is not ripped or torn. The headliner is sagging at the rear window but not torn. It can be tucked back up by an interior shop. The tires are in good condition. It can be driven across country without a problem.
