Start Slideshow Stop Slideshow Next Image Previous Image The 1965 Ninety-Eight received an all-new body shell along with other full-sized Oldsmobile’s but retained a larger C-body shared with Cadillac in contrast with the B-body used in the Oldsmobile 88. The Ninety-Eight featured many of the lines found on 88s but with more squared off styling. Also new for 1965 was the Ninety-Eight Luxury Sedan, which featured an even more luxurious interior along with more standard amenities than the regular Ninety-Eight models such as power windows and seats. Most 98 LS's also had vinyl roofs, which were offered only in black that year. A new three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission with torque converter replaced the original Hydra-Matic used by Olds since its 1940 introduction. Along with the transmission and body shell, the engine was also new for 1965. It was a 425 cubic-inch Super Rocket V8 that was more powerful and of a more efficient design than the older 394 cubic-inch V8 previously used, yet it was much lighter in weight. The Ninety-Eight's standard and only engine offering for 1965 was the four-barrel "Ultra High Compression" version of the 425 Super Rocket rated at 360 horsepower. This particular ’65 Oldsmobile 98 is an all original, 72,000 mile car that is finished in its original colors of Laurel Mist with green interior. This is a fully optioned, LS 98 that is loaded with options and has the high compression, 425 Cu In V8 under the hood that pushes out 360 horsepower. The LS was the top of the line Oldsmobile for 1965 and includes amenities that you normally see in a Rolls Royce in the back of this car. There are two pouches on either side of the fold down tissue dispenser in the center that also has a movable mirror. What a great car to stick the ladies in the back of going to dinner! The paint on the car is in very good original condition with no major imperfections to be found. The exterior is all original with no restoration ever being done. The bumpers are both in good overall condition with only some minor pitting and scratches as expected for a 45 year old car. The black vinyl top looks great with no rips, tears or bubbling. The rubber is original and is showing its age with some cracking. All of the glass looks great with no cracks or chips. Inside, the original green interior is in excellent condition with no major imperfections. The carpet, dash, headliner and door panels are all equally as nice with no major wear or staining. The front seat is power and all functions work as they should and shows no major wear. The same goes for the rear seat. The wood trim on the dash and door panels is all in good condition with no cracking. Lights, blinkers, horn and wipers all work with no problems as well as the A/C which blows cool, just not ice cold. The original AM radio works with no problems. Under the hood, the 425 Cu In V8 runs great. Turn the key and the car starts right up and goes down the road with no problems. This is a wonderful cruiser that will go down the highway with no issues and is very smooth. With power steering, power brakes, A/C and radial tires the car is a joy to drive. In the trunk, there is a full size spare and jack along with a pile of trophies and awards the car has gotten for its originality. The current mileage shows 72,869 and is original. VIN number is 386695H361611 and the car is being sold on a clean Missouri title showing that the previous owner has had the car since 2005. Once full payment has been received, Seller will fax a copy of clear title, Bill of sale, Buyers guide and additional DMV forms to the Buyer to sign and return via fax.
