. 1981 Delorean DMC-12 Just in time for the 25th anniversary of the movie that made this car famous is this very well kept and sorted Delorean DMC-12, VIN # SCEDT26T5BD006951. This car is in very good condition inside and out, especially for a car that is nearly 30 years old. All of the bugs these cars are renowned for when new have been sorted out. Even though production of these cars ended nearly three decades ago parts are very easily obtained through The Delorean Company (yes the company still exists and is located in Humble, Texas...a far departure from the company’s Belfast, Ireland origins). Parts are relatively inexpensive and arrive surprisingly quickly so there is no concern of parts being obsolete, practically every part you will ever need for this car is a single phone call or click away. This car has a clean title backed by a spotless Carfax/Autocheck so bid with confidence. -Exterior- The body is all original and is in excellent condition. The stainless steel skin in immaculate, the body is nearly flawless, the only inperfection is in the hood where you will find a small ding (pictured), The two areas on the body that were actually painted by the factory were the front and rear fascias, these are in like new condition without a single blemish in the paint. This gullwing doors operate with ease, and stay up as the gas struts are brand new. All the glass is nice and clear with no hazing, though the front windshield does have a small crack near the rear view mirror, this has come around and will not progress further. This car was kept under a car cover and garaged all of it's life which shows in the quality of this car. Tires are brand new, with close to 95-100% of the tread remaining and the rims are in very good condition with no scratches or curb rash. -Interior- The grey leather interior is excellent condition with absolutely no blemishes split seams or other imperfections... there is no sign of any wear whatsoever. The headliner is brand new, was professionally installed in August and looks great (it was replaced due to the original material beginning to sag). There are NO strange smells or odors which is sometimes common in older cars which have been stored for extended. The only flaw on the interior is that the window switches stick from time to time and will need to be cleaned or replaced ( I have brand new switches directly from DMC ready to install included in the sale). -Engine & transmission- The original 2.85 litre 6 cylinder engine starts up on the first try and runs strong as ever, it runs and idles smooth. The clutch is strong and transmission shifts through the gears with no slippage. There are no strange noises or vibrations from the engine or drivetrain, all you will hear when driving it is the sound of onlooker’s jaws dropping as you pass by. Overall this car is in very good condition, I would give it a realistic overall 9+ rating on a scale of 10. Please look at the pictures, they quite accurately represent the condition of this car, either way bid with confidence, you will not be disappointed. -Pricing- If you are looking at this auction you are most likely familiar with the rarity of these vehicles and know the value of them. The value of these cars is increasing from day to day, especially in these hard economic times when the stock market is volatile, investing in the right classic car is one of the safest and smartest things you can do with your money!!! Not only will you have something that will only appreciate in value, you will also have something to use and build lasting memories with. To put it another way this car is alot better than having money in the bank...when was the last time you were complimented on having a nice certificate of deposit? I am including a "buy it now" price of $15,500, unfortunately to be able to include a BIN price I had to also include a reserve price. While I do not like reserve prices and feel the market should set the price not me, it's the way eBay wants it done...but I have made the reserve relatively low for this car and there should not be an issue with it being met. -TERMS OF SALE- Buyers are more than welcome, and even encouraged to inspect the vehicle in person BEFORE the auction ends.
