Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This 1977 AMC Hornet has a straight 6, 232, 3.8L. This unique model is a 3-speed on the floor and came with factory air and cruise control, but I have not gotten to the point of replacing the lines and hoses in order to know if these work. My grandparents bought the car new. After becoming the official owners, the following items were replaced:* Starter* Starter relay* Solenoid* Ignition switch* Radiator hoses (though others still need replaced) * Hubs and rotors on the front * Brakes and brake lines on the front (the back were still in good shape) * New tiresIt starts, runs and the engine sounds strong. The odometer indicates it has 17,738 miles. Since five places is as high as the odometer goes, I suspect it actually has 117,738 miles considering the fact that they didn't drive it much through the years that they owned it, and for several of those years were not driving it at all. Before my grandmother stopped driving, she had a small fender bender and the right front quarter panel will need to be replaced. The body has a few areas of rust on the driver's door, the roof, and right rear fender. The driver's floorboard has a hole in the seam on the floor, as noted in the pictures, but could be reinforced and then new carpet installed. The front windshield has a crack, but is still intact. As far as the interior goes, the seats have the original upholstery and are still in good shape. This Hornet was last insured and driven in 2005. Unfortunately, divorce and other priorities prevent completing this project. As far as restorations go, it will be a fairly simple project for any AMC enthusiast. The parts are easily located on eBay and many parts from Jeep are the same. This would be a great car to restore or you could part it out and easily make more than the very, very low reserve price. This car is being sold in as-is condition with no warranty and the sale is final. A deposit of $200 must be paid through PayPal within 48 hours of end of auction and full payment of balance within 7 days of end of auction. Pick-up or transportation arrangements are the responsibility of the winning bidder and the car needs to be picked up 30 days from the end of the auction. Please email any questions you may have and I will do my best to answer them.
