Vehicle Detail

First off, let me say that I hate to sell this car, but I have other priorities right now, so I have to let it go. Having said that, I'll get on to the description... *Please read the entire description & view all pictures before bidding. Serious bidders only. You are bidding to own the car. If you have any questions, please ask before bidding; I will be happy to answer them as soon as possible. You are bidding on a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am. It is a numbers-matching car with the Pontiac 400 engine, automatic trans, power windows, air conditioning, cruise control & tilt steering. It starts, runs & drives well for a car of it's age. Engine compartment: as stated, the engine is the original one to the car. It has the matching VIN stamped in it. It has been completely rebuilt and has approximately 5,000 miles on it. It starts & runs well. Has an electric choke that works as it should. The oil pressure is very good and it has never run hot (gauge usually shows about 160°). The block, heads, intake & carb are all correct. I believe the exhaust manifolds are too, but would have to double check. There is a brand new preheat shroud & preheat tube just installed. Most vacuum lines were just replaced as well. The radiator, radiator cap & core support are all original. The A/C looks totally complete except for the belt, so it shouldn't take too much to get it working again. Transmission: I was told this was rebuilt at the same time as the engine. Shifts fine, no problems that I've noticed, other than a small leak if it sits too long. Probably just needs a new pan gasket or to be driven regularly to fix this. Rearend: I believe this is original to the car as well, but haven't checked the numbers. No problems that I can tell. Brakes/suspension: The master cylinder & front pads were replaced by a previous owner. The brakes work well & the suspension seems good, although it could probably use an alignment at some point as the steering wheel is a bit crooked when going down the road - not bad, but thought I should mention it. Wheels/tires: The car has a set of factory, aluminum, 15x7 Snowflake wheels in good shape. The tires are 225/70R15 in size and are white-lettered. The tires have decent tread on them. The wheels/tires were recently balanced. Paint/body: The body overall is very solid, but has had some repair work in the past. The front floor pans were replaced on both sides, the rear quarters were replaced & the rear frame rails have had some metal welded in. Trunk is very solid with most of it's original spatter paint. The Space Saver spare & jack are in place. The paint is shiny & does look good from a few feet away, but does have some small blemishes here & there. It's not show quality, but is quite presentable (in my opinion) and does get quite a few compliments. There is a small area that is bubbling on the driver's side rear 1/4, about the size of a half dollar, on the wheel lip. The red arrowhead emblem looks to have been replaced with a new GM piece. I was planning to put new black, red & charcoal decals on the car to compliment the interior (like a silver car would have had from the factory), but haven't gotten to it. I'll leave that up to the new owner, if they choose. Interior: The car has the red, cloth, deluxe interior. Overall, it's in good condition, but could use some restoration to take it to the next level. There is some fading in the cloth seats in a few places, but still quite presentable. The console & door panels are in very good condition. The shifter escutcheon looks like it was replaced with a new, GM unit - nice chrome trim on it. The dash bezel & gauges are in nice shape. All gauges work, except the clock, but that is typical of these cars. The top of the dash pad does have a few cracks, but I will include a partial dash cap with the car that could be dyed & installed to cover these. The rear package tray is in good condition. The car has a vintage Alpine tape deck in it with a factory bezel surrounding it. The power windows do work, but are slow going up. Cruise control works great! This car needs nothing to be driven and enjoyed right now. You could continue restoring it as you go or leave it as is for a weekend cruiser. Bid with confidence - see my 100% positive feedback. This car is sold as-is. There is no warranty expressed or implied. All sales are final. I would encourage serious to bidders to inspect the car in person or have someone look at it for you. There is a $500 non-refundable deposit due within 48 hours. Full payment due within 3 days of auction end, unless other arrangements have been made. I will accept cash in person, a cashier's check or bank wire transfer only. The car will not leave here until all funds have cleared. On Oct-16-10 at 07:20:34 PDT, seller added the following information: *THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION* I tried to change the title, but couldn't, so just wanted to make that clear.
