Vehicle Detail
DESCRIPTION The Prism, whether Chevy or Geo, is today's best buy in a used car. A bold statement-- why do I say that? Because Prisms have the ideal combination in a used car--the low price of a used Chevy and the reliability of a Toyota. Check the price guides. See how much more a '99 Corolla is worth compared to a '99 Prism, yet they're the same car with just slightly different styling and a different nameplate stuck on it. This particular Prism has been in our family for many years, from the time we bought it in Virginia and later in Florida. It's been well maintained and has always been a reliable car. I just finished driving it 362 miles to South Carolina from Florida, and it ran like a champ, never missing a beat. With an easy shifting automatic transmission, working air conditioning and a nice JVC CD player, I found it to be a comfortable car to drive. It's also a real gas sipper, averaging about 30 miles per gallon at my cruising speed of 68 mph. The dark window tint or film really helps to keep the hot southern sun out. This car is in good condition, both mechanically and cosmetically. We just bought new tires on the rear. The front tires are almost that good with most of their tread left. The transmission shifts smoothly with no slipping, the engine starts right up, cold or fully warmed up, and the brakes work well with no pulling or fade. The car tracks straight along the highway. As far as I know, there's only one thing you might want to fix--the front passenger-side door handle is partially broken, but it still works to open the door. The ride is smooth with no pulling to either side. The body has it's share of dings, scrapes and touch ups, but nothing serious. The worst area, not really that bad, is the right rear fender which I show in a closeup picture. This may have been caused by a high curb, but I don't know because the car this area was on the car when we bought it years ago. I haven't found any rust on the car and believe the body is solid. There are no cracks in the vinyl and no rips or worn places in the cloth interior with just some minor soiling. The carpet is also in good shape. As the pictures show, this car looks good. If you're on a budget and looking for a thrifty but reliable car for a daughter or son, this Prism would be perfect. Or, if you just need a cheap car that will get you to work on time every day without costing a fortune in gas, this car will do it. I've been on eBay since its early days in 1997 with 100% feedback. Email me if you have any questions. I will answer all questions received within one day. ADDED NOTE All the Auto Check listings shown in red, beginning at Port Republic, VA, are mistaken. This is when the vehicle came into our family, as the third owner. We must have simply forgot to check "actual mileage" on the VA title form. The later Florida titling event is another member of our family, and the Florida title says "ACTUAL MILES." Look at the mileage record--you see no discrepency. Three owners since new and low miles for a Toyota--not a bad combination. TERMS I require a $250 deposit through PayPal within 48 hours after the auction closes to show that you are serious about buying this car. If this condition is not met, I will send a second chance offer to the next highest bidder. The balance is due within one week from the end of the auction as a certified bank check or wired directly into my bank account. I don't accept PayPal for the balance because of their high fee. The Florida title will not be transferred until I have received full payment. This car is sold As Is, Where Is with no expressed or implied warranties. I reserve the right to end the auction early. Although the pictures give a good representation of the car, still I encourage you to come look at it before bidding. Winning the bid means you have purchased the car, not the right to look at it and decide whether to follow through with your purchase. Please do this before bidding because eBay charges me a rather hefty fee whether the winning bidder pays for the car or not. The car is located in upstate South Carolina, about 40 miles southwest of Greenville.
