Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1966 Corvette coupe project vehicle. I believe his corvette left the factory with sunfire yellow paint, black vinyl interior, 327 - 300hp, 4-speed, positraction, AM/FM radio, tinted glass, standard exhaust and wheel covers. The vehicle currently has 93,787 miles on the odometer with a non stock 350 engine. I purchased the vehicle in 1986 and drove it occasionally for several years. The vehicle has not been driven since 1992 when a body off restoration was started completing the frame several years later. The majority of the new parts listed below were purchased between 1992 and 1996. The chassis was completely disassembled and rebuilt including the following work and new items. The frame had a covering of surface rust with several small areas of thin metal by the bottom of the frame kick up assemblies that were repaired at a local shop. The frame was straightened, sandblasted, primed, and painted with PPG DP90 epoxy paint. Complete new front suspension including 2-delco shock absorbers, stabilizer bar with brackets and bushings, coil springs, ball joints, steering stabilizer shock, relay rod, tie rod sleeves, idler arm, splash shields, bushings, bearings and bolts. Complete new rear suspension including 2-delco shock absorbers, shock mount brackets and mounting hardware, stabilizer bar with brackets and bushings, composite rear spring, 6-greasable universal joints, heavy duty differential cover, 3-differential seals, differential mounting bracket with mounting cushions, strut arms with bracket and cam adjustment assemblies, complete trailing ( torque arm) assemblies with mounting hardware and bearings, stainless steel parking brake assemblies and splash shields. Complete new brake system including the master cylinder, 4-rotors, 4-stainless steel sleeved calipers, stainless steel brake lines, brake hoses, blocks, clips, clamps and bolts. Complete new exhaust system from the exhaust manifolds back (with the exception of the left front pipe) including heat shields, brackets, clamps and hangers. The previously existing front and rear pipes less the mufflers are also included. New radiator core support, support rods, mounting hardware, seals, and replacement aluminum radiator purchased in 2007. The previously existing radiator core support and radiator are also included. New gas tank, straps, pads, stainless steel fuel line from pump to tank, clamps. New battery box, seat belt underbody cable assemblies and mounting brackets, body mounting kit, grounding strap kit, miscellaneous splash shields, various weather stripping, gaskets and seal sets. The 4-speed transmission was sent out for rebuilding, new clutch and pressure plate, tunnel insulator, mounting brackets and hardware. The non stock 350 engine was rebuilt. The engine was started in 2007 with a new Holley 650cfm carburetor. Also included is a low mileage stock 327 from a 1968 Camaro. I believe the only items not rebuild or replaced on the rolling chassis was the steering box, differential and gas tank sending unit. The body was chemically stripped of paint using Captain Lee’s paint remover. After stripping off the paint the existing fiberglass front end appeared to be in rough condition with repairs above each wheel well and to the left, right and center of the headlight openings. The existing front end was removed. The existing interior, seats, door panels, instrument cluster, dash, glove box, console, steering wheel, radio, clock, seat belts, trim and moldings are in useable condition, the head liner and carpet was discarded. As far as I can remember all of the gauges in the instrument cluster were working. No work was completed on the body since 1993. The following items are new and ready for reassembly. One piece, hand laid fiberglass door to door front end assembly without bonding strips, 2-hand laid inner fender liners and hand laid hood purchased from Ecklers in 1996. The fiberglass front end, fender liners and hood removed are also included. New exterior trim including 4-rear tail light assemblies, 2-front turn signal assemblies, license light set, fuel filler door, tail pipe bezels, stainless steel tail pipe extensions, and door handles. New various weather stripping, hood support assembly, hood hinges, front and rear bumper mount bolt kits. The doors and main body section appear to be in good condition with a small crack at the right rear wheel well and some previous repair to the rear center body section above the license plate light and rear right quarter panel in the bonding strip area. The bottom of the right windshield pillar experienced a small area of rust and was repaired by a local corvette shop. The rocker channels at the #3 body mounts in front of the rear wheels were rusted. New rocker channel sleeves inserts were welded in place. The remaining sections of the birdcage appear to be rust free. The aluminum headlight buckets are in good condition with the exception of 2 to 3 screws holding the adjuster brackets and tension springs are broken off of each bucket. The headlight motors both work with a majority of the rotating headlight mechanical hardware replaced. The wiring harnesses appear to be in good condition, with the exception of the terminal connections at the front and rear lights, headlight motors, and several under hood and under dash areas that should be repaired. The original shifter was replaced with a non-stock Hurst shifter prior to my purchase. The front and rear bumpers, bumper brackets, 1966 wheel covers, front and rear window moldings, grill, rocker panels, and door sills are included. The front window was replaced with a non stock aftermarket replacement, the rear, side and vent windows appear to be correct and are tinted with the exception of the left side window that is clear. The rear window has a scratch on the inside approximately 8 inches long running horizontally above the left wheel well. Also included, The Corvette Chassis Restoration Guide, Vette Vues 63-67 Fact Book, 1966 Assembly Manual, GM 1966 Service Manual, Cars & Parts - Restoration of a 1963 Corvette, The majority of Vette magazines 1987 to 1998, and all receipts.
