Vehicle Detail
Super rare and nice car. The 1958 1959 and 1960 Lincolns were the largest production car ever built in America. They were the very height of elegance. Hess and Eisenhart were commissioned to make these cars even more luxurious and exclusive. H&E converted the Lincolns into one of two forms...the Town Car or the Limo. The difference is the glass divider window behind the drivers seat. This price tag on this Lincoln was $10,500 in 1959 at a time when the average home in Detroit cost $10,000. That's right, this car cost more than a house in 1959. This car came from Texas and has a really fine body and undercarriage. The is minimal surface rust but no holes that I was able to find in the body, trunk, rockers, or floors. The glass is all intact and not cracked. The seats are not ripped. The interior will need a cleaning, carpet, and door panel work. The dash is in great condition. The car is totally complete and I have not yet tried to fire the engine. I have no reason to believe that it won't run but I have not had time to try it. It will need a battery and tuneup for sure and I'm sure the brakes all need redone for safety sake. I don't believe the car has been driven since the 1980's. The vinyl top has peeled away and caused some rust in the roof that I'm repairing now in all metal. The car is in the body shop now and they can perform additional work if the new owner desires. I do have a bill of sale and a VIn inspection from the police but the car was purchased with a bill of sale only because the state I purchased it from did not use paper titles back then. I can apply for an Indiana title for the new owner wants to pay the fees for that. This is a super solid old rare car that you will not find again at this price. I'm only offering it for sale because I have a 1960 convertible I'm focusing on first. If for some odd reason, the car does not sell, it will not be relisted. There is a very low opening bid price and NO RESERVE. The hood is not attached to the hinges in the picture but there is no damage or issues there. It is simply unbolted and laying on the car in the pictures. I will fix that this week.
