Vehicle Detail

"The new XKR comes closer to the legend than any Jaguar sports car since the original E-Type" - Motor Trend "Its refined cabin, elegant and advanced technology, supercharged V-8, consummate handling, and traffic-stopping looks make it an all-round winner." - CNET reviews. "The 2008 Jaguar XK is clearly a new kitten -- and a sexy one at that. However, there's more to this luxury coupe and convertible than sleek and muscular styling. This is a Jaguar that drives as well as it looks." - Edmunds.com "It is quite simply; spectacular." - Jeremy Clarkson, Top Gear They're all talking about the 2008 Jaguar XKR; one of the most beautiful cars on the road today, with a powerful supercharged 4.2 liter engine that pushes you into the luxurious leather seats with the force of a jet taking off. And I can tell you, from having owned Porsches, Maseratis, and almost every American muscle car you can name - this is honestly the best car I've ever had. It feels like a $100,000 car should -- exceedingly well-made and refined, with excellent handling and that throaty exhaust note Jeremy Clarkson described as "the God of Thunder gargling with nails" when you get onto the throttle. It rumbles all the way down to your soul, believe me. And the lines... My God! The 2008 was designed by Ian Callum, the man who designs Aston Martins, and boy does it show. The Jag is arguably as beautiful (some say, even more so) than her DB sisters. I think this one has the best color scheme -- Indigo Blue, which has iridescent sparkles in full-sunlight, and a cream leather interior with suede headliner. There's not a stain, mark or tear anywhere. Technologically, Jaguar finally got it right with this one. The center touch-screen works the nav system, audio (including 6-disc CD changer and Sirius satellite radio), bluetooth and all the climate controls. It has this wonderful feature called adaptive cruise control, which automatically keeps a set distance from the cars ahead. With a little help from Ford, they also fixed the dependability problem. Jaguar won the 2009 JD Power and Associates top award, breaking Lexus's 13 year streak. The warranty for this 2008 Jag doesn't expire until 2012 or 50,000 miles. This is a car that will turn heads everywhere, make hearts flutter with its sound, shoot past pretty much anything on the highway, and keep running every single day. I don't use it as my daily driver (I've got a Jeep for that) so that's why the miles are so low, but this is my weekend pride and joy. I've kept it spotlessly clean, perfectly maintained, and garaged with a soft cover on it during the week. It just received its second year complete service. It has almost 100% tread left on the Pirelli P-Zero's, no scratches or dents except for a little curb rash (thanks, honey) on two of the alloy rims and there is a small door ding next to the gas cap. This Jag still looks, drives, and smells brand-new. So why am I selling it then? Sadly, the reason is fairly boring: we're getting an au pair and I simply can't justify having four cars. So I have to part ways with my gorgeous Cat, and I'm really not happy about it. I won't bore you with all the features this car has, which are pretty much everything Jaguar offered in 2008, but here are the highlights: HID headlights, the brightest white you can imagine, that turn when the stearing wheel turns. Heated seats, steering wheel, mirrors. 16-way adjustable front seats. Premium sound system. The automatic transmission lets you select gears manually via F-1 type paddle shifters. There's plenty of room in the trunk (or "boot" as Clarkson calls it) for luggage, groceries, or two sets of golf clubs. My kids fit in the back seats just fine (although I can't honestly recommend them for full-sized adults). With 420 horses and 413 lb-ft of torque, the XKR has been clocked 0 - 60 at well under 5 seconds (with one reviewer claiming a 4.3!). But the big engine is amazingly economic; I've averaged over 20 mpg, even when having some fun on the the Turnpike. This is definitely a sports car - the XKR's springs are stiffer than the XK's, but the Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS) active damping system allows for both good ride comfort and minimal body roll in fast cornering. The ultra low-profile 245/40 ZR19 front, 275/35 ZR19 rear Pirelli P-Zero's grip like they're made of glue, and the huge brakes can bring the Cat from full stride to full stop with little effort. I'm listing it for below Kelley Blue Book value, so if you act quickly, you can own one of the most stunning and best-made cars anywhere for a bargain. With only 7500 miles on it and in this condition, it's like getting a $100,000 exotic for almost half-price!
