Vehicle Detail
Hello all! I work as a motorcycle mechanic at a small european motorcycle shop in philadelphia. I'm a project oriented guy and love building unique motorcycles. This was a really fun bike to build and ride. The bike is in excellent condition. It has never been dropped or stunted, adult owned since purchased new, and is in perfect mechanical condition. I love this bike, but have to move on (as I said, I'm a project guy). I bought the bike last year with 2,900 miles on it, rode it to northern Maine for a few weeks (hence the miles), and started customizing it this spring. The bike is dynoed at 113hp and 74ft.lbs. torque modded with a Power Commander USB III (custom mapped by Eraldo Ferracci at Fast By Ferracci), stainless CBR900RR header, and Black Dragon Carbon Fiber custom muffler. This exhaust combo gives the bike a little more power, cleans up the back end aesthetically, and gives the silent stock exhaust note (seriously, these bikes are virtually silent stock) a fuller deeper tone. Also, the stock undertail mufflers had a bad habit of making the rider smell like exhaust something fierce. The lower mount keeps the muffler in the open air allowing exhaust gasses to flow away from the motorcycle vs. get trapped in a vortex behind the rider. I ended up not using a K&N filter as when dynoed, it was really hard to smooth the torque curve using anything but the stock filter. That brings up another point, when I had the bike mapped, I went for smoothest power delivery vs. top-end horsepower. I always go for smoothing over peak numbers as when out on the back roads on a sunday, a bike delivering smooth power throughout the rev range will always feel better and be more comfortable to ride - no mid-corner power spikes! Currently, the bike is getting 38mpg city and 42mpg highway. I ditched the stock bars for some lower Renthal Road Bars. I went that route as the bike stock had an extremely upright seating position. Initially, you'd think this would be good, but on the highway the wind was too forceful, and in the twisties there's not enough weight on the front tire. The Renthals - in addition to just looking better - lowered the bars a couple of inches which gave the rider a more natural position against the wind (saving my arms and back) and better feel in the turns. The exhaust, mapping, and bars make this bike a quick handler, capable highway eater, and generally fun riding/commuting bike. Aesthetically, I wanted the bike to be a little sharper and not so common, so I painted the bike (about a month ago) flat black, removed the stock logos, installed NOS OEM 1969 Honda Black Bomber badges, and installed flush mount LED turn signals. The 919 is a modern successor of the CB900F, and a direct descendent of the 1964 CB450T dual overhead cam Black Bomber cafe racer (Honda's first US Superbike). The retro badges are a subtle tie to the bikes history, and give it a little classier feel. Mechanically, the bike has two brand new Michelin Pilot Power 2CT Dual Compound tires on it, new brakes (front and rear), Galfer stainless steel braided brake lines, fresh brake fluid, fresh coolant, and fresh Repsol full-synthetic oil. Since I've had it, the bike gets a full-synthetic oil and filter change every 3K miles religiously. I work at a shop so the cost is marginal, and I just feel like it's good practice (even though synthetic is supposedly good for nearly 8K miles) - I just like clean oil in the window. Also, the bike doesn't burn a drop of oil. I'm not sure what else to say about the bike, other than it's an excellent bulletproof Honda. If you've any questions, feel free to ask and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks for checking out my listing! On Sep-29-10 at 13:29:27 PDT, seller added the following information: I have all of the original parts if you want them, and they're in excellent condition (bars, mufflers, header, grab rail, etc.). Also, a mileage update. I went on some pretty decent rides the last couple of days - mostly highway - and the bike now has 9,100 miles on the odometer. I just want to keep it honest with no surprises.
