Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on my 1970 Cougar Eliminator. I have owned it since 2005 and it was restored this year. Before the restoration, the car had just under 80,000 original miles, and the title bears this out. I have the Marti report, 999 report, and a clean title with no defects. I did not get a build sheet with the car. I am giving out the full VIN to the winning bidder only. The car passes Arizona emissions, and is currently registered. The original motor was with the car when I got it, but the block was damaged beyond repair. The rest of the original motor was good. I searched for about a year and found a proper date coded block and had the motor rebuilt. It currently has an Edelbrock carburetor on it, but the original unrebuilt carburetor goes with the car. Aside from some minor details, everything else is stock. Check out the photos to see the date codes of the engine parts. The transmission was rebuilt as well. This car is a California emissions car and most all of the emissions parts have been reinstalled, but I have disabled the system as I find that they leak. The tank is a reproduction 1970, but no provisions for the emission stuff and I like it that way. If you want the original tank and filler neck stuff, I will include it. The tie rods and upper control arms are original to the car, but the rest of the suspension has been replaced. All items for the power steering system have been completely rebuilt or replaced. Virtually all brake components have been replaced with new. The A/C compressor, condenser, and dryer have been replaced with new, and the rest of the system was thoroughly flushed prior to being charged. The rear axle was disassembled, media blasted, cleaned, repainted and reassembled with fresh fluid and new axle bearings and seals. The exhaust is completely new with all reproduction parts. The body was largely very solid and rust free. After the body was stripped, there was a lower Rr quarter patch required. A piece from another Cougar was properly butt welded in. Aside from minor details, that was the only repair needed. The removable sheet metal was all in excellent shape and needed very little body work. All panels were primed and painted on both sides. The underside has been detailed, but I did not go for all the paint and chalk marks. The glass is all original. The windshield is original and uncracked anywhere, but has some scratches from the windshield wipers. All of the chrome and stainless are original, unrestored pieces and in good to excellent shape with no rust, pitting, or damage and minimal scuffing. All of the Eliminator specific pieces are original and not reproduction with the exception of the trunk prop rod, chin spoiler, and Marti stripe kit. All of the exterior lights work, including the sequential turn signals. The headlights are all original Ford script and not reproductions. The interior is mostly original and in good shape. The carpet and headliner are reproduction. The door panels are very good with minor scuffs. Armrests are perfect and soft. The seats are still very cushy. Most all of the original sound deadener under the carpet and behind the rear seat were in very good shape and reused. The dash has a little warping and a couple of scratches, but is not cracked or faded. All gauges and interior lights work. The original AM radio works, but the clock does not. All locks were replaced with new. The tilt wheel works fine and the rim blow horn switch was replaced with an NOS one. The console is the proper early production version without the button for the lid. All weatherstripping has been replaced with new. The tires are brand new with maybe 50 miles on them. The original wheels were the plain black boring ones, and I don’t like those as much as I like the 1969 Eliminator wheels, so I put those on. The wheels, rings, and caps are all original units and not reproductions. I will email a full copy of the Marti report and VIN photos to the winning bidder shortly after the auction ends. To be clear, the car is not perfect in any area, but it is very nice in all areas. I have a Photobucket account with a ton of pics. Most of the pics have some information for you, so please look at all of them . I have a few more pics to upload, so look for updates on that site. Here is the link: http://s254.photobucket.com/albums/hh90/nilvanava/1970%20Eliminator/ There are so many things to cover and I may have forgotten a few. If you have any questions, please ask. I am open to offers to end the auction early and sell the car outright, however, I own /have owned many Eliminators and performance Fords and know their value well. Lowball offers won’t cut it.
