Vehicle Detail
up for bid is this 1971 vw squareback project car. it is a solid car. the pan has virtually no rust in it that i could find. of course there is some surface, but it is solid! it has a fuel injected 1600 in it. not sure of the actual mileage, but engine does not smoke and runs strong. it could very easily be converted to a dual carb set up. pre 1975, so no smog to contend with. it runs and drives pretty good. has been sitting for a few years. the body has some dings in it and the hood could use replacing if you wanted to do things right. no rust, just has been pushed in and popped back out from people standing on it etc. the bare bones of this car are excellent! it just needs all the cosmetic stuff done! the brakes feel good and the tires have some tread and hold air, but are pretty weathered. the lenses need to be replaced and the bumpers are in fair condition. all the glass is in place and in good shape. the windshield has a couple small stars in it, but nothing serious. the auto trans is in good shape too. it shifts fine through all the gears. trans linkage is a little worn, though, as to be expected. someone took some pride in this thing at one time because they added a nice sunroof to it and did a pretty good job doing it. the headliner is in pretty good shape. i picked this car up as a project for me and my son, but we both have lost interest in it. now, the not so good things...I HAVE NO PAPERWORK FOR THIS CAR. IT IS NOT STOLEN, IT IS NOT SALVAGED, AND THERE ARE NO MAJOR FEES DUE ON IT! i wanted to make that point very clear. i took the vin to california dmv and they ran it. they said it has been non-opped for years. the lady i purchased it form could not find the title and i cannot seem to find the bill of sale. i tried to get back in touch with her, but she has since moved and i have no idea how to go about getting it. also, the interior of the car is in need of full restoration. the carpet is bad, the seats are not totally bad, but they do not match. the only good thing in the interior is the headliner and the fact that the floors are solid. the dash is in tact and operable. most fo the lights, etc function. the doors are missing the window cranks . this is a great project for any vw enthusiast! solid car that you can mould into the vw of your dreams!!! please email any questions and happy bidding!!! also, i am not in the car shipping business, nor do i care to learn the car shipping busioness with 10,000 phone calls asking to measure this and that. i will be glad to help get the car on its way, but i will not set up your shipping for you. this is why it is listed as local pick up only/buyer responsible for shipping. the car will need to be paid for within 5 days of auction close and picked up wiothin 14 days thereafter. after 14 days, i will charge a per day storage fee of 25 dollars. i was burned once before by someone who thought they would leave the car i sold them for months at my house until it was convenient for them to pick it up. i want this thing gone, thats why its for sale! thanks!
