Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Notes: "This is an authentic 1966 produced 1967 model 911S. The original color is polo red and the car came with houndstooth (pepita) cloth and leather seats and an antennae and speaker installed. It appears that the dealer installed a Blaupunkt 3 band radio which is still in the car. The vin number is 306481S and all 3 VIN numbers match . The engine is the original numbers matching one that came with the car and is: 960606. The doors and front right fenders are numbers matching with 481S stamped into them and original polo red paint underneath. The rear bumpers have original polo red paint underneath them as well. I do not know if the hood and left fender are original to the car. The doors and hood fit well with great panel gaps and appear never to have been in an accident. This car was imported originally into Switzerland by a company called AMAG and bears their id plate on the back engine panel which says” AMAG Lauf No. 5175. Fortunately AMAG is still in business and they were kind enough to provide me with original documentation showing the engine and chassis number, original options (pepita and leather seats, loud speaker and an antenna). From this document I learned that this car arrived on 8-11-1966 and was sent to Heinz Schiller a Porsche dealer in Genf Switzerland. I WILL include a scan of the AMAG documentation. Contact me ahead of the sale, and I will send you a copy of the PDF File documentation. It includes Polo Red / Pepita / Leder + other information. All of the owners were in the Ashland and Medford area of South Oregon. I purchased the car as a project, in May 2007.It has been garaged in Houston, Texas. The good points of the car: the engine runs great, the transmission shifts smooth (reverse and 1st-3rd were tested on a brief test drive), see the picture of engine running. The clutch, brakes, suspension, emergency brake all work as does the starter switch, fuel pump, ignition and starter. By the way we installed new correct platinum plugs and a new wiring harness both Bosch, new points, alternator belt and provided an external fuel source, put in a battery and the car fired right up. After a few minutes of warming up the engine reved and idled smooth and powerfully and didn’t smoke. The car revs like a race car but I think the carburators may need to be rebuilt as it has sat for a number of years. The original anti sway bars and ventilated disc S brakes are present and working properly. The original Webasto heater is present and the cars wiring looks to be all intact and not messed with. The original Blaupunkt with beautiful chrome surround is there. The correct 67S gauges are all there and look great. The sun visors are original and look great as does the original interior rear view mirror. As I recall from the test drives all of the gauges work except the tach which may be something simple like a ground or fuse. All of the lights and turn signals and rear bumper guards and liscense panel that are on the car came with the car and look to be original. I have the ignition key which also fits the driver side door. The car has a clean Oregon title. This car has amazingly little rust. The front battery area is very clean and solid, the floor pans and under the back seats appear original and other than some small holes that I think can be easily repaired and the rear torsion area is solid. The main areas that need repair are the left side jacking point area and the rear corners of the back window which were crudely repaired some time in the past and need some work or to be redone (this is a common rust area). This car was in the Medford and Ashland area of Southern Oregon with its dry California like climate since 1973 which helps to explain the over all well preserved condition. The bad: The car had a color change to yellow at some point, many years ago the guy I bought the car from had a “friend” start a restoration which amounted to stripping the car down, sanding it, putting a little bondo here and there and then later losing some of the parts. Years have past and there is obvious surface rust in places where it was sanded to bare metal, still luckily the car was preserved by the dry climate where it resided. The rear deck lid and front bumper came from different cars and were added by me, neither are in great shape but I wanted the car to roll mostly compete. Missing in action: fog lights, carpet, door panels, trim, emblems and door panels. There is some rust that needs to be repaired as described previously and the car obviously needs some body work, a paint job and an interior restoration. I put the lights and turn signals back on the car but did not hook them up, the wiring looks to be intact. A good front windshield has been installed. Although this car runs and drives it should be towed or shipped. This car is an excellent restoration candidate. With only about 250, 67S cars accounted for on the early 911S registry list and the fact that the 67S is a milestone early Porsche 911. PLEASE NOTE, THE MILEAGE OF 83,000 IS INCORRECT. I WILL POST ON MONDAY, THE ACTUAL MILEAGE INDICATED ON THE ODOMETER. I AM INCLUDING (4x) 1967 911S 41/2"J X 15" FUCHS WHEELS. THESE ARE THE CORRECT SCARCE WHEELS, THAT CAME WITH THE CAR.
