Vehicle Detail
Exterior: The body and frame have very minimal rust for a bus of its year. There is damage to the passenger side nose of the bus but should be easy to fix (there are pictures). The Rest of the body is fairly straight. The rear bumper should be straighten or replaced. The paint is okay but not a professional paint job. Interior: This bus is a westfalia camper package. It has a sink, icebox, z-bed, poptop and additional bed. The interior is fairly good shape. The canvas of the pop-top is brittle and cracking but could easily be replaced. The pop up is still very functional and usable in it's current condition. It could also use a good cleaning. There is one cushion missing which is intended to go over the engine compartment. The carpet for the cab has been taken out but I think I still have it. The door that covers the water tank for the sink is taped shut because the latch is missing. Also the ignition switch is bad so I replaced it with a toggle switch ignition in the meanwhile. I planned on putting a new ignition switch in but don't have time for another project vehicle. Engine: The engine was rebuilt and runs very strong. The compression of all 4 cylinders was right around 120 for every cylinder. The air filters are currently missing on both of the dual carburetors. It needs to be dialed in but runs well. I adjusted the valves, timing, and points at the beginning of summer but it should all be looked at again. The battery doesn't hold a charge but I have a battery I can use to start it up. It has a new exhaust and I've kept the old exhaust as well. Transmission: I know very little about transmissions. This bus doesn't shift very well. I think it needs a clutch or at least a clutch adjustment because the transmission doesn't fully disengage from the engine. It might be something small but could be something more serious. I really have no idea. It is drive-able but its not easy to shift. I would plan on towing this car home unless you live very close to my house. I'm trying to as honest as possible with this ad. This bus is a project but it worthy of being restored. I bought this bus with the intentions of restoring but just don't have the time or space anymore. These vehicles are very valuable and I hope to get the bus to a good owner. Feel free to contact me If you have any other questions. I am willing to ship the bus and could probably get it done on Uship.com for five or six hundred. If this is something your interested in then its your responsibility to find a shipper and make arrangement.
